Galley Hatch Restaurant, Hampton

My family and I had been going to the Galley Hatch for 30 years. The owner recognizes us and says hi. We went this past Easter Sunday and it was a horrific experience! We got there at 12:15pm for a 12:30pm reservation. At 12:35pm, we asked the hostess when we would be seated. She kept telling us, In just a minute as people came in after us and were seated within 10 minutes. After asking several times when we would be seated and asking to speak to the owner who wasn t there, we finally got the buzz that they were ready to seat us. The hostess said she would seat us at the bar....are you kidding???? For Easter dinner at the bar after a FULL HOUR of waiting??!?!? No way! We said no and she stated with all the attitude she could muster well, you shouldn t have been late. WHAT??? We were 15 minutes EARLY!! We left and will never go back. After going there for every holiday and birthday every year, it will be a change, but we don t need to be treated like we don t matter and lied to on top of it!

Place has slipped over the years, again if not for the desserts this place would be way below average, food is so so, portions just barley enough and too expensive but wait for dessert. They recently renovated and cut down on the pastery dept. not a good move. I think they stay afloat from past reputation.

Bought 4 dry-rubbed Delmonico steaks from Provisions, the to-go food store near the bakery counter. They were excellent, high quality. What a nice touch- almost forget to pick up the cake I came in for. Great place.

What a great selection for dinner. They have everything! The best part is dessert !! The dessert is by far the best part of this place.

By far the best restaurant in Hampton. The menu has a range of items. My favorites include the Chicken Teriaki Salad and the mussels. My husband is a vegetarian and there are several choices for him so everyone is happy. I would reccomend this restaurant to anyone looking for a relaxed atmosphere at a good value. We like to sit in the bar area and they have an amazing bakery so you can take dessert home with you.
