Just moved to Newmarket and wanted to try Ship and Shore for the past month....had a great dinner there tonight. Very good selections, superior service, and excellent meal. Quaint, New England-ish interior, open spaces and quiet enough for a conversation over dinner. Suggest you try Ship and Shore.
Over the past few years our dining experience has progressively declined. Our most recent visit in August was definately the worst. I had the beef tournados which came out cold and barely cooked, despite my having ordered them medium and my husband ordered the seafood casserole in which the fish was on the marginal side of being fresh. Our waitress had a major attitude and when I asked if I could have my steak cooked a bit more.
If you are looking for fine dining (or at least a decent meal) It is worth the drive to Portsmouth (The Dunnaway is excellent). Alternatively, my husband and I were pleasantly suprised at Riverworks in Newmarket. Although the bar was too smoky for us, we dined upstairs where our waitress was extremely personable. They serve good pub food and the atmosphere is upbeat.
A very quiet and romantic place for a intimate Valentines Day dinner,,,,,,,went 2/14/06 with reservations, staff was very hospitable, attentive and a very professional Atmosphere. Will defiantly look forward to going back.
