This was my first tinme at Dantes, I had heard mixed reviews and decided to give this place a try. I must say that I was very impressed with the food, we ate as a family of 6 and everyone raved about how good the food was! I had the short rib special, and the ribs were TO DIE FOR!!!! Best short ribs I have ever tasted! My wife had the statler chicken special and she literally scraped the plate!(trust me my wife can be fussy to say the least!) My mother in law had the Carbonara and said it was one of the best Carbonara she had ever tasted! Dad had the Fruitti de Mare and he loved the small baby manilla clams and the dish was fresh and exactly what he had hoped for. the others were children, and they both really liked the kids pastas, it was penne pasta in a quattro fromaggio sauce, and even with a hint of gorganzola in the sauce the kids both ate everything!!! The service was good, and all that were dining around us seemed to be enjoying themselves! I will definitley go back to Dantes, I really enjoyed the atmosphere and again I must say the food was terrific! I am anxious go to the sunday Jazz brunch this sunday at Dantes, I have heard from numerous people that the Italian eggs benedict and carbonara Frittata's were both excellent, and who doesnt like a 3 dollar mimosa??!! I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a nice cozy dining experience and doesnt mind waiting a few extra minutes for delicious food!
Horrible service! I have tried this restaurant several times hoping that I will enjoy a meal there, but have been disappointed time after time. I will never eat there again! My husband and I sat in the bar area for 20 minutes with absolutely no greeting from any of the passing wait staff. The owner was behind the bar, saw us sitting there and made no attempt to see if we were being helped. Unbelievable! The food is OK, not worth it.
im actually writing to say i have not been to dantes for years. i recently called to get hours of operation and was pleasantly greeted on the telephone. this pleasant experience on the telephone has me eagerly anticipating my next visit, which will be real soon. my previous experiences were also wonderful....and the wine!!!! GREAT!!!!
If you're sick of eating Americanized Italian and want some of the real thing, you'll want to try Dante's in Barrington NH. They have a wonderful family atmosphere where you can eat in the dining room or during the summer sit out on the deck and watch the kids play soccer.
The food is fantastic and the prices are decent. If you like fettuccini alfredo you'll LOVE quatro formaggi! There is something for everyone.
We are used to your processed Italian meals but this food was first class. It has fresh ingredients masterfully blended to produce the most exquisite flavor.
Their homemade ravioli and meat sauce was superb as was their veal. This food is definitely a cut above.
I am from Barrington NH. I've lived in Italy. And all over the world for that matter. Usually American Italian Restaurants are typical garlic and meatball type places. I was immediately taken back to Southern Italy when I walked in. A sophisticated look and romantic feel make this a place where hearts could soar. Dante's' has captured the essence and Romance of how I remember Italy. Then I tasted the food~ I was back in San Vito, and loving it. I've looked long and hard to find an Italian restaurant that did their country justice. I've traveled the world. Only to find that the best experience was right in my back yard. How Awesome is that!!! My name is Matt, I recommend Dante's'
