Been to the Manchester & Dover locations. Food was very good and the service too. But when at the Dover location I used my credit card to pay the bill and the tip and when I received my bank statement the amount was higher, someone added more to the tip amount. Due to this poor practice I won t be back and I will be telling others about that visit.

Not sure where all of these other people ate but I have never had a bad food experience here. The staff was friendly and the food was excellent. The table service was beyond what any resturant in Dover offers. The owner even came by to make sure that everything was what we wanted. I did not spent $100 and we had a 4 course meal but of course I do not drink so that may have made a difference. I would recommend anyone to eat here. It is the best resturant in Dover. Oh and the atmosphere is very good and comfortable.

Awful experience. The food was overcooked and the portions were ridiculously small. My Baked Haddock was three forkfuls and dry and crunchy. It tasted like straw. Would never go back and can't believe that dinner cost me $100 for 2 ppl. NOT A FAN!

I like the Barn and love sitting out on the deck. I have always had good service. I do agree there are some menu items that have gone away that I would love for them to put back on.

Went there once about 5 or 6 years ago and I was very happy... Last night was a different story. The bacon-wrapped scallop appetizers were pricey ($3.00 each) and the scallops were wrapped in maple bacon which completely overpowered the flavor of the scallops. I had the Seafood Fra Diavalo, the sauce was watery, shrimp were extremely overcooked, and their were unopened mussels on my plate which should have never left the kitchen. She ordered the Pork Chop with Apple Chutney. The chutney was good, but the chop was dry and unimpressive. I will say that my blueberry cheesecake and her white chocolate creme brulee were both very good. I should have said something then and there about the quality of my meal, but my girlfriend seemed as though she would be embarrassed. I kept my comments to myself for the evening, but after pondering the $90.00 (with tip) that I had dropped on a forgettable meal, I decided to call the owner this morning. He seemed to have little concern about the quality of our meal and was more interested in boasting about his credentials and how he is apparently the definitive food expert of the Seacoast. Towards the end of our conversation he did offer me a $20.00 gift certificate, which I declined. $20.00 doesn't go far in this place and I certainly can't see myself contributing any more of my own money to this guy's gastronomic pipe-dream.

The Barn is good and I love the deck in the summer. But I must admit I liked the old menu better before it got sold.

used to be a favorite, now, not so much
By ,
this was one of our favorite eateries but it's lost a lot in the past year. the last couple of times we've been there the wait staff have been very slow, unhelpful and unfriendly. last time out with my girl friends the server didn't offer a second drink, coffee or dessert. then seemed put out by my asking for dessert to go, cheesecake ended up upside down in the clear plastic container. dinner was ok, nothing special. dessert, although no longer pretty, was yummy. sad that the wait staff ruins this restaurant because the location is wonderful, a really interesting place to be and very comfortable. unfortunately it's no longer on the top of our list when we go out.
