For something a bit more casual and fun, there's the Bratskellar Pizza Pub, a Seacoast favorite since 1975. The Bratskellar Pizza Pub is the perfect choice for a more casual lunch, dinner or late night snack with creative pizzas consistently voted as best in the Seacoast, fabulous gourmet subs, snacks and a great selection of draft beers served in frosted mugs! Oh, and of course, a great bar you'll say is the most inviting in town. And just like the Dinnerhorn next door, you'll be a welcomed part of the family the minute you join us. Of course, all menu items are available for take-out. All you have to do is call.
I just wrote a review about a pizza place here in Warwick, RI, where the previous reviewers raved and gave it five stars and said it was the best pizza around. Well, I tried the pizza and it s obvious to me that they have never experienced the pizza at Bratskellar (the bar behind Dinnerhorn) which remains for me the ideal by which other pizza is judged.
Living for eight years in Atlanta, there were always three things I had to have on my return trips: seafood, Chinese (Exeter), and Bratskellar pizza.
I do think Bratskellar uses a slightly different recipe than it did in the 1970 s and 1980 s (when my childhood memory of it seems almost fanciful now) but it s still by far the best pizza I ve ever had, and I try a lot of different pizza.
UPDATED: Sadly, I had to dock Bratskellar a star because they seem to have a different pizza recipe which leaves it, well, just overpriced.
Love the pizza but it is overpriced. Expect to spend $9.00 for a pub pizza. Parking is free but it can be tight.
New 10/2011 I know the ownership has changedmaybe thats the cause but the last two time the pizza has been awful. Undercooked, too much sauce and skimping on the cheese. One more time for us and if it bad we willl be done with it.
My fiancee and I had dinner here after a three hour drive from lower New England (NYC). The Hotel advised us that it was a great place to eat. The food was excellent. And, I have eaten in the best and worst eateries all over the world. However, the management and service was completely unaware that good service gets your name out and great customer service keeps it there. I truely got the feeling that I was keeping my waiter from something more important. I was wondering when he was going to break out the slingshot and just hurl the food directly from the kitchen or tell us when and where to pick it up.
My complaint to the manager was met with the advice that I ask for a better waiter-----let me say again, strange town word of mouth recommendation. I have gotten better service at Dicks last Resort where I acually pay to have a waiter be rude to me and it is fun.
In the end, if you want to waste your money expecting to take a loved one out for a good meal. Do not expect more than that your food will get to the table. do not expect to be treated as a customer should or that you will get more than the barest minimum of service. But, since the management is unseen and assumed to be very new to the trade one cannot expect much from the wait staff.
We enjoy the bratskeller immensely. it is our family tradition, whenever we are all together, this is where we ultimately end up. There is the running joke, where are we going to eat? should we try somewhere different?/ NOOOOOO!!!
The menu has all of our favorites, some people find it a bit limited, but there is also the Dinnerhorn next door, great place also, a little more fancy, lol...but a super menu.
We love the atmosphere, the waiters/waitresses, it's all good.
