Jesse's Restaurant & Tavern, Hanover

This is a restaurant that you will think of whenever you're in New Hampshire. The ambiance is wonderful--the steaks are luscious and the salad bar is to die for. You also got to love their drinks (whether it's the Bloody Mary with shrimp or many other exotic drinks) and desserts (the pecan pie is still on my mind).

This used to be a place that we went to for special occasions, but it has gone downhill. Last Sunday, we had the worst meal ever there. It wasn't like anything was cooked wrong and needed to be sent back. It was just bad quality steak. And where is the filet mignon? This is supposed to be a steak place, but I can buy a better steak myself at the chain grocery store. I think everything is frozen, but at prime prices.

Loved everything, the salad bar is unbelievable. There are great restaurants where I live in the Hamptons but Jesse's would be right up there with them if not a step above.

this place has no clue about customer's desire for good food ... steaks/prime rib are bland and swordfish was uneventful and not even warm ... only positive aspects are the salad bar and the building itself.

My husband and I ate here last winter. It was the best dining experience we ever had. The food was delicious, scrumptious and mouthwatering. The waitor was cheery and eager to please. He arrived at our table as if on cue. We were never left waiting for service for a moment. The desserts were brought out on a samplers tray. They all looked so yummy and the tray itself was something to take notice of! Such elegance! I will definitely go here again and again. I highly reccommend this place to all I meet. We were so pleased with the entire experience we left the waitor a $20 tip. To get a full feel for the atmosphere just take some time to eat there. You won't regret it.

The way the locals talked about it it should have been spectacular but it wasn't. Service was moderately pleasant, food was way undercooked and spiceless. The atmosphere was very dark and dingy, It just wasn't worth the price we paid.

Great Dinning and eats a must hit if your in the area. The people, service, and Food Are Top Notch.

Went in on Sunday for the New Brunch. (9/12/2010) Very nice - service was great - food was presented well and tasted great. Server was very friendly and the manager stopped by to chat after our meal. I have paid more for much less... My wife and I agreed this was a great find.

Jesse's never fails. You can be having the worst day at work and stop by for a bite and suddenly feel reinvented!!! The best Ice Tea I have ever had. The bread is warm, fresh and unlike any you've tasted since some childhood memory. The salad bar is always fresh and filled with wonderful, taste tempting treats. Their steak is plentiful and always cooked to perfection. I love their Barbecue Chicken and the baked potatos would even make Dan Quayle spell it correctly. The service is never less than perfection and the atmosphere can help you forget those blues.My week is not complete without at least one visit to Jesse's. Any time of the year - Jessie's is a bargain!!

We have eaten at Jessese's a half dozen times over the years. The food is generally good but the service is horrible most of the time. We were there this month for my wifes birthday. we were seated in the bar. Service was slow to arrive. The waitress was pleasant yet slow at getting our order initially for drinks and salads. When she realized she had forgottten our salads. she did apologize and only then submitted our entree order- so she said. Five minutes later she arrives with our salads. we had barely begun to eat our salads and she returns with assistance bringing our entrees. The manager was carrying one of the entrees. He said something to the effect of being too soon, but put the plates down and quickly left. Dessert was not memorable.
