Shorty's Mexican Roadhouse
At Shorty's you can enjoy some of the most delicious and heart rendering Mexican meals. Their colorful menu includes traditional favorites like Burritos, Nachos, Tacos and Enchiladas. For more heartier meals try their succulent steaks, Mexican styled ribs or fish specials. Fun always loves a crowd so bring in the family and watch the kids go crazy over bite sized specials custom made for those tiny hands. Shorty's ensures a fun time everytime and has designated days for some extra fun like their Football Sundays and Monday Kids Night. You can also come in by the packs for a party and enjoy Shorty's perfect platters.
First, let's be clear: Shorty's does not serve authentic Mexican food. That being stated, the food they do serve is acceptable although not outstanding. I've eaten there several times ordering differnt items each time. The roasted chicken in their salad had the flavor and texture of dry-aged wood. Their jalapeno poppers are excellent however. I see lots of ratings of this restaurant based on margaritas. I would say, don't go here for food based on ratings of margaritas.
I have been to many different Shortys, many times over the years. I dont know what happened to this place. I think it got to big to fast in the early 2000s. Over the past 4-6 years the food has gone from really good to really bad. I go back about once a year hoping things have changed but is is always a waste of my time. When you are in a 3/4 empty place and the service stinks and the place is a mess (food and crumbs all ove the floor) its time to go somewhere else. There are much better choice for Mexican Food in Manchester.
My wife and I have been going to Shorty’s for 20 years now. In the early years, the food was usually great and drinks good. As they expanded to a chain they have gone through some rough spots with menu changes and management changes but they seem to come back to center. As I write this in October 2007, they seem to have settled into a good menu which is quite good. The quality of the food lately has been good, and the service fine. Prices are fair and atmosphere is average. This location offers a good bar area but still offers quieter seating areas for diners. I recommend this place often.

Two adults. One plate each. One soft drink each.
Check with tip: $34.00.
That is more than we expected to pay.
If there was a luncheon section on the menu we missed it.
The menu is too busy and dazzling.
Would rather see it plain and easy to understand.
Have been a regular Shorty's customer but have had two other unpleasant experiences, one at Manchester, one at Nashua.
Probably won't go back too much in future.

We love Shorty's. The food is great. The service is the best anyplace...friendly, professional and attentive. Awesome for families with kids or for after work gatherings or for a date. Funky, elcletic atmosphere. Great drinks...get the Jamaican Marg if you like yours without mix, but with lime juice. High Sierra Burrito is great...loads of veggies and you can get it with chicken or beef if you like. Great desserts. Best of all...if you go regularly, they have a frequent diner card. Fill it up and you get $25.00 of your next meal.
