I went there with a friend a couple of weeks ago for lunch. The waitress who was very full of herself was awful. She kept sitting down with her friend a a table and we had to go over to get her 2 times for service. I had left half my meal on the plate and set it aside. I was talking to my friend going over some paperwork. She went by and picked up my plate, I didn't notice. After finishing reading the forms my friend said what happened to your plate? I laughed and said I didn't even notice she picked it up. After awhile she finally came back into the dining room, I had to flag her down and asked, did you wrap the rest of my meal. Her response was YOU DIDN'T TELL ME TO WRAP IT. YOU DIDN'T TELL ME THAT. YOU SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME. Now as a former waiter of 5 years and my friend a current waiter. We thought that was pretty lame. YOU ALWAYS ASK, May I wrap this for you?
This was the second time we had her as a waitress. I will never go back for lunch. Both times the lunch waitress who thinks she owns the Theo's world is a big turn off.
New Hampshire Magazine wrote a great article about this restaurant so four of us drove there to try it. The greeting wasn't as friendly as the magazine said. We sat down and ordered cocktails while looking at the menu. The magazine said Wednesdays was German Night. Our waitress wasn't sure it was German Night. At 5:00 PM they were out of some of the dishes. Then there was no cabbage because the cook was out on vacation for 5 more weeks. Then there were no mashed potatoes left. And the waitress chewed gun the entire time we spoke to her. We told her we were disappointed. She was sorry and then recommended Carrabba's Restaurant across town. I paid for the bar tab and we left very hungry. Can't say I'd go back after that experience.
If you go on a weekend, try and get there before or after prime time. Before 5 PM, after 7 PM., or you may have to wait a bit. Very good food. Excellent staff. If you have a problem, let them know. It will be taken care of immediatly.
