I went to Whippersnappers to celebrate a relatives birthday. Recently moved to Londonderry and I decided to stay local. The band that was playing (Leaving Eden) was very good. Nobody complained about the food. It was prepared well and we had a good waitressl. But... the atmosphere was unpleasant. It was old and dingy. There were too many intoxicated women over the age of 40, dancing on chairs and tables, falling on the floor, dancing against poles. The security didn t do much about it.
I understand everyone is out to have fun but it was a little too trashy. Not my cup of tea. I go out a lot to see bands and have a good time and I wouldn t recommend Whippersnappers for a night out, based on the patrons i saw that night, who seemed to be regulars. But like i said, the band and food were good : )
Whippersnappers has changed greatly over the last few years . The new management team certainly improved the live entertainment and the quality of the food. In fact I am very impressed with the 2 for $20 menu , the food being offered is very inventive , not your norm many times, rivals dinners that are being offered at upscale restaurants at a fraction of the price. Sometimes it can be a hit or miss but I know there is one chef out back that is excellent . The rest of the menu is bar pub food but heck, your in a bar lounge although the other side is a full restaurant which offers a piano player towards the end of the week for easy listening music .
The town has lost several restaurants over the years but Whippersnappers is still here and still trying to improve , I think that speaks for itself . I hear they have great lunch and dinner specials during the week , weekends drink prices tend to go up but other than that it has a nice easy friendly atmosphere.
My family and I went for dinner on Saturday. My husband and I had the two for $20, both had prime rib and it was GREAT!!!! My children both had meals for only 99 cents!!!!! The service was excellent and someone who appeared to be the manager brought my son some crackers while we hadour soups which made his day. Would highly recommend any family who is on a budget to go and have a great meal.
When I see reviews of Whippersnappers having bad food , and 70's decor, these people obviously haven't been there recently. Now under new ownership, the bar and lounge area is decorated very classy, and stylish with brand new paint throughout. The staff is extremely friendly, and the musclehead bouncers are GONE! There is nowhere else that I know of that features live entertainment 5 nights per week! These bands aren't your average garage quality musicians. This is top notch stuff!! The menu is constantly changing, and there is a new variety of specialty items on the menu... I bring my family in all the time. My kids eat for .99 all the time!!! I enjoy coming to Whippersnappers, and I would stand behind my 5 star rating, for top notch pub fare, and awesome entertainment...all of the time!
Great local bar/restuarant. You will be surprised by the actual size inside, much larger than it looks from the road. Live music on the weekends, and the Tues Burger deal, and the all you can eat tips day make this place a deal, if your hungry. Good choice of beers, with a draft deal that goes with the burgers on Tuesdays.
