Hemenway's, Providence

If you used to go and it's been a while, be prepared for a shock. We used to dine at Hemenway's regularly when living in Providence. Back then the service and food were both of very high quality. Was there a few weeks ago and much has changed. The fish was so overcooked it was inedible. The waiter was inappropriately rude, not in a funny way, although I think maybe he thought he was. THEN, I found out they're now under new management. Nothing lasts forever I guess. But, the place was still very clean and they do have that great view of downtown and the River.

They don't advertise... why should they waste the money? THEY RULE, if you've never been there it's def time to make your reservation.

Excellent seafood restaurant, and service was tops--just the right amount of attentiveness, contact and privacy. I had the seafood casserole, very rich , loaded with seafood (scallops, scrod, shrimp and lobster) in a sherry cream sauce and perfectly done. The restaurant is in a glass fronted office bldg. looking modern but inside is old school wood, linen, etc. Very satisfactory evening.

This lovely downtown restaurant has it all! Wonderful food, great views, an attentive waitstaff, what more could anybody want? If you are a seafood lover, as I am, this is the place to find many varieties of delicious seafood. They also serve chicken and beef dishes.

We have been going to Hemenway's for the last 5 years on fathers day. We are from CT and go there because we feel it has the best seafood in New England. We would Recommended it without any hesitation

This is my favorite restaurant. Everything is fresh and top of the line. The staff is very attentive to you and the atmosphere is great. They have valet parking so you don't have to search for a parking spot.

Very Very good Seafood!! the only downside being the pricing because it is seafood in Providence. The King Crab legs are amazing as is the shark.

This is an excellent seafood restaurant which as you would expect is pricey. They offer the best quality in the area. On the downside I found it a bit noisy and lacking atmosphere.

Many fond memories were created over the years at Hemenways. Every time I am home from St. Louis, I try to visit with my family. Every meal is presented with the best of culinary appeal and tastes. The atmosphere is terrific and everyone should ask for a class act waiter, Jack. My hat is off to this restaurant and the owners for creating such a top shelf experience on all fronts. BRAVO!!!!

Hemenway's definately has the best seafood around with a variety of other dishes. The menu is always changing so you could never get tired of the entrees. The atmosphere can be a little noisy but overall is fun and enjoyable. The service is excellent. The only down side is that it is always really crowded and reservations are an absolute must and sometimes even then you may have to wait for a few minutes. The cold seafood platter appetizer is superb and a must have..Since visiting Hemenway's so frequently, I don't eat out much anymore because nothing compares and I always find myself disappointed when I go anywhere else. Prices are fair for the quality of food
