Restaurant Galito's, Pawtucket

Galito Restaurant is a jewel tucked into Pawtucket near McCoy Stadium. The Portuguese food was well prepared, moderately priced and they had a great selection of Portuguese wine. Check out their menu, there is something there for everyone!

Great Portuguese food at reasonable prices. Friendly wait staff, excellent all around! Nice scotch selection too!

The food and wine is very good. The atmosphere is much nicer than you would expect from a restaurant in a similar price range. The hostess was very friendly and attentive. However, the rest of the service could be much better. The waitress was very slow and did not seem interested. The manager (owner?) went from table to table asking how everyone's food was if the table was a Portuguese family, group, or couple. Neither my wife, or I am Portuguese and he skipped our table while he made his rounds to every other table around us. When our meal was done, we waited over half hour for our check. The hostess finally noticed (she was very busy with her own duties) and got our bill for us. I would not recommend eating here unless you are Portuguese or don't mind this type of service.

If you enjoy Portuguese cuisine or have been yearning to give it a try; a reasonably priced tasty sampling of the best Portgual has to offer lies in Pawtucket, RI. My personal favorites are : Appetizers - Camarao a Guilho (Shrimp in a delectable creamy sauce, best draped over toast points),Ameijoas a Espanhola (littlenecks ina delicious pepper and onion sauce), Bife a Daniel as an entree (a Portuguese steak served with rice, round fries, a little salad sitting in a Madeira type sauce that is to die for, look for the egg surprise!) and Sarabolha dessert (a yummy Portuguese version of a Tiramisu). Try the nice selection of wines, pariticularly the Aveleda Vinho Verde or any of the Portuguese reds they offer. Oh and don't forget for post dinner coffees - a galao with liqeurs and/or a fine port wine. Bom apetite!
