The Mooring Seafood Kitchen & Bar, Newport

Save your money and eat elsewhere. The Bag of doughnuts was heavy, doughy and not much difference betweeen the three varieties The King crab legs were over-priced--$49.00-for 1 lb. of less than mediocre fare. The real gem was the Seafood Pie--a 1960's Diner rendition of seafood newburgh with a slab of overdone pastry on top. The decor was nice and the service was really fine, but they could not make up for the poor food

Awesome salads, seafood, pasta, bread, drinks, and raw bar the last ten times I've been here. A touch on the expensive side but worth the splurge every few weeks. I've only had one not so pleasant waitress. The rest of the servers and waitstaff have been fantastic. I reccomend this to all my friends going on dates.

We enjoy going to this waterfront restaurant on our trips to Newport. The food is delicious and the staff very polite and knowledgeable. Wonderful choice of seafood dishes. You need to make reservations for this dining delight. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Over Rated good locataion. Bad service The waitress Tonya actually was the worst waitress we have ever encountered, rude and quite uncultured. The food was very boring and for the price it was not worth the time

The Mooring is not a quality restaurant. First, the service is weak. The hostess had trouble taking our reservation - of course when we arrrived she then had trouble finding it too. The food is plain. no bread was brought to the table. I ordered the scallops. They were cooked correctly but very bland - they had a pretend bbq sauce - really just ketchup w/ hickory salt and vinegar. the jimica salad was pathetic - just shredded jimica no taste at all. my wife ordered the ahi tuna - it was seared. but it was cooked on a grill that was not hot enough b/c it was refrigerator cold and only seared about 1/16" thru - it was raw not rare. the wine list is extensive. dessert was better but at that point dinner could not be saved. save yourself and go elsewhere, this place doesn't deserve the business.

Not really sure when these other people went or what other restaurants they have eaten at but I was VERY UNIMPRESSED withe the poor quality of food at Moorings. The food was very tasteless and portions were very small. After selecting one dish that the waiter said was bland and recommending another I can even imagine how awful the other one would have been. I love going out to eat and do not mind spending some money for good quality, unfortunately I spent money on poor quality. If you are going to spend money DO NOT spend it at Moorings.

Very very nice, a relaxed atmophere. I could not make a reservation as I did not call far enough in advance..so make note, but when we arrived about 10PM we where told we would have a 40 minute wait, it was only about 20 minutes, not to bad. The Clam Chowder was great as well as the Seafood scampi I had. The wine we choose was great and the waitress was very nice. Its in a good location and the food was taste and fresh. I enjoyed it very much. I did not see steamers but they had a selection of Osters that Jay tried and he liked them. He had the fish and chips and the plate was huge. You could dine either in or outside so if your making resevation sand wish to dine outside, ask for it. The view of the boats was very nice. You are also right near the shoping area if you wish to walk afterwards. The price where not to bad. I would go again

The Mooring is located on the harbor in Newport, a beautiful setting with boats of all kinds to see out the windows. The menu is primarily seafood, although they have some options for land lovers. The clam chowder was excellent, a great starter. And the rest of the menu was very good as well. The staff was friendly and attentive. It was a great meal, and I would definitely recommend it.

Disappointing. Went to this restaurant 2 years ago and loved it. It had been memorable enough to go again. This time it was not so memorable. The food was average or below average and the restaurant was a bit on the dirty side.

exceptional seafood. fine dining. great atmosphere. definately fits in with the newport experience. very crowded in the summer. parking is tough. knowledgeable staff. enjoy the meal.
