Ristorante Lucia

Description

Lucia is a great alternative to many of the more expensive Italian restaurants you may find in the Newport area, not to mention offers absolutely authentic Italian cuisine. Lucia's menu offers primarily Northern Italian cooking and several vegetarian options. Portions are large, but the cheerful wait staff is happy to adjust your order as you wish so you get a chance to sample their delicious, homemade Crescentina as well as the pasta, veal and lobster entrees. Do not forget to bring your own bottle of wine.

The bolognese sauce is terrific. I make bolognese sauce myself back home in the philly area. Lucia's was delicious. Everything was great as well. I highly recommend going there and giving it a shot.

Very nice and a good location. I was expecting a little fancier place from the reviews but the food more that makes up for it. I was surprised that they did not have such a simple thing like mealtballs and I had to ask for bread but I very much liked being near the window to look over the steet. I think this is a great place to bring the kids. Dessert was great. We showed up just between lunch and dinner so we could have none of the specials but that was ok. The taste was great and the prices ok. It is a nice alternative to the hustle and bustle of accross the street. We very much liked it. I had spagatti and Jay had the bolanesse pasta and we had brocolli to share. the bill with soda was about 45.00

I am in love with this place! We went for the first time for Laura's 28th birthday and I know we'll definitely be back. The restaurant is in the middle of historic Newport right on busy Thames Street. You have to go up a small flight of stairs to reach it and if you're lucky enough to get the window seat you can watch the busy goings on on Thames Street while you eat. It's a BYOB restaurant, but there is a little package store right around the corner. If you decide to go get a bottle of wine, Lucia's will provide you with the glasses to enjoy yourself. This is authentic Italian cooking. The menu is small but diverse. We started with a pepperoni bruschetta which was hot and delicious. Then Laura had manicotti which she found to have one of the best sauces she ever tasted. I had the farfalli bolonase and it was outstanding. We shared a piece of chocolate mousse and marscapone cake and two cappuccinos. Everything was outstanding. I like the way the waiter brought over a large platter showing us the various desserts they had for us to choose from. The whole experience was really pleasant. The restaurant is small, intimate and you feel like you're in an Italian trattoria. A very cute, relaxing, delicious place to have lunch or dinner and I can't wait to go back!

Just awful. the dessert tasted like lard and ended up giving me an allergic reaction (not sure to what, since it had no ingredients including nuts, which makes me wonder what they touch while making the desserts). The waitress was nice, but if she had helped take the dessert off the bill, she would've gotten a bigger tip. DON'T GO HERE, EVERYONE!

Love Lucia's!!
By ,
I recently went to Lucia's over Columbus day weekend with my husband. We had been to Newport several times before, but somehow missed this fabolous resturant! The Veal Gorgonzola was AMAZING,And the Ravioli Rucola is the best past dish I have ever tasted! When we found out it was a B.Y.O.B. resturaunt we were a little dissapointed but our waiter Keith told us about a liquer store around the corner. Problem solved, and with a $2 fee we were extremly happy. Make sure you dont pass this one up while in Newport the Food, Ambiance, and Service we were provided were absoloutly exceptional!!!

Food was cold, service was sub-par. Plenty of great places in Newport. That pretty much sums up this restaurant. I had thought from the website that it would be nice, cozy, intimate. It was not. The restaurant reminded me of a high school cafeteria. Skip out on this one.

The best Italian restaurant in Newport
My husband and I got married in Newport many years ago, and frequent the Newport area regularly, so we are familiar with the restaurants the region has to offer. Lucia's is, hands down, the best Italian restaurant in Newport. It is the perfect place to go when you have a mixed party of omnivores, and vegetarians in particular, as it has something for everyone. The seitan in marsala sauce is very, very tasty. The pasta is always fresh, and the marinara is simple, just the way my Italian Mama makes it. This is not Americanized, Italian cuisine, thankfully. It is as authentically Italian as Lucia herself and her talented cooks. In addition, this is a BYOB, which I love! My visits will only increase when we buy our second home in the Newport area.
