I have lived in Bristol now for 15 years and I have been going to the SS Dion now for at least 10. My husband and I love it, and go there every birthday and anniversary. I have been very pleased with every meal I have ever had. The salad is always fresh, and as for the entrees, I have tried just about everything you can have on the menu. I have never once been disappointed. I have tried there deserts which are also very good. But to be honest I am usually too full from my starter and entree to even have desert. When family visit, we always take them to the SS Dion, and no one has ever been disappointed. There wait staff is always friendly and attentive, and I have never had to wait long for a meal. Definitely, very good value for money. Also one summer my son worked there washing dishes, I had asked him how clean was the kitchen, he said, very clean, that even delivery men made comments on the cleanliness, well that was good enough for me.
June 2008 - We recently had a wonderful lunch at the SS Dion. We shared a calamari and hot pepper flatbread (unusual and delicious). The lobster roll was very nice and the fried clams were top notch. Siting on the outside patio, watching the boats go by, it was all just perfect.
We went to dinner in July and there were seven of us and everyone enjoyed their meal. We had seafood scampi and stuffed shrimp, also the Tallapi was excellent along with the Scrod Dijon. We are planning to go again in August....Cant't wait!!
Went there on Mother's Day. Knew we were in trouble when we sat down and saw the Ritz Crackers, herb cream cheese in a plastic cup with a plastic knife on the table.
The staff was very friendly and attentive. We ordered our drinks and salad. When the waitress told us it was extra for the ceaser dressing I found it rather odd. It wasn't like they were preparing it fresh or anything, it was out of jar.
The salads were not anything special even those which went with the ceaser salad. I would have to rate them about a 2 on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being the best.
My baked stuffed lobster was a little overcooked but the stuffing of shrimp, scallops and crabmeat was tasty. Everyone else said their entress were okay, but not worth the price which accompanied them. The entrees were about a 3.
The sides which accompanied the entree ranged from french fries to garlic mashed potatoes. The fries were again about a 3 nothing special, but the garlic mashed potatoes were a total disaster. How any resturant could serve a dish as bad as this is beyond me.
We didn't hang around for desert and left very disappointed with apologies from the person who picked the resturant.
