Shipyard Galley, Mattapoisett

The Galley is a fun cafe and or take out restaurant that is full of good suprises. All the breads and pastries are baked fresh daily ( actually they bake all through the night). Breakfast is a sweet or hearty treat. There are a variety of muffins, scones, danish, bear claws and my personal favorite, the breakfast sandwich which has scrambled egg, cheese and either, veggies, ham, bacon or lungucia baked right inside the bread dough. They serve organic coffee, cappachinos,lattes, teas and juices along with bottled water. Lunch offers an assortment of unusual sandwiches, soups, chilis, salads, calzones, and pizza by the slice.You never really know what the daily specials will bring, but they are always fresh and delicious. Also if you don't have time to cook there are entrees to take home for dinner. In season they sell local organic vegetables. Oh and the desserts are to die for, from the basics like cookies and pies to the decadent like glazed fruit tarts cheesecakes, chocolate banana bombs or key lime pie and the list goes on and on. And as if all the wonderful treats you can get there weren' t enough, they also do on site catering from weddings, to dinner parties in the comfort of your own home. And the Galley crew well they usually have a smile and as much personality as the food.
