Tip for Tops'n, Provincetown

My partner and I having been coming to Tip for Tops'n for the past 20 years. Love the place. Never had a bad meal. For those complaining customers, Thank you for stopping by, we will not miss you. We give Tip for Tops'n a thums up.

I've been going here since 1969, whenever I'm in P-town. Best place for breakfast--fast, friendly. I've brought friends who have later made this their breakfast stop too.

We've been to this place for breakfast and this time tried it for dinner with friends who are local. The fried haddock special was ample and superb. This from someone who rarely eats fried food! There isn't much ambiance or decor, but the food and service make up for it. Will return next time we're up there.

I've been coming to Ptown for 10 years and always look forward to eating lunch here. They have to best lobster and clam rolls in town.

Good food without the fru fru. When you need a good meal, pleasant surroundings, and good service at a reasonable price t for t can't be beat in P town.

We own a home in Provincetown so are there as often as we are able. Having dined in every restaurant in town, we had always been curious about this place which had been there for so long. The food was indescribable. I have never been served such substandard fare. The chowder tasted like dishwater and the fish was rubbery and overcooked. The salad featured the cheapest bottled dressing. Most everything was inedible. Why do this to yourself?

I have been coming to Ptown for years and have always like Tips for Tops'n a great deal. I have never had dinner there but I go at least 3 times a week for breakfast. Very inexpensive, FAST service and a fantastic value. This is by no means a high end restaurant known for its culinary wizzadry. However the staff is friendly, the place is clean and do not get turned off if there is a line out front- it moves quite quickly. This is without doubt my favorite breakfast place in Ptown. If you want a high end brunch I would suggest someplace else in town. Tips for Tops'n has the basics covered and will leave you feeling like you got a great value for the money.

First: Our credit card was overcharged, so BEWARE! Evidently, our generous 10% tip for poor service (see second reason below) wasn't good enough for them, so they decided to charge us an extra 10% for themselves. Second: There were 4 people in front of us, no problem, the wait wasn't too long (10-15 min), BUT they crossed our name off and sat 4 people after us while we were still waiting outside the door (they said they called our name, but we were standing right at the door and we're not deaf). It wasn't that crowded - we were the only 2 waiting outside and 4 people walked off the street and were sat before us - so it was their incompetence for not seeing we were waiting. Third: the food wasn't all that everyone said.

There are plenty of tourist restaurants in Provincetown. This is not one of them. This place is designed to appeal to the average diners, be they tourists or locals. You get great food with Portegese favorites at very reasonable prices. It is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and if you go in the early afternoon the three completely overlap! The service is prompt and friendly and you are made to feel welcome. I eat here more than in any other restaurant in town.
