Spankys Clam Shack was perfect....very busy but great. First off it is bigger than it looks. When we went every table was full...but the service was great, food was hot and taste sooo good. We had a seats over looking the harbor. The prices are average for the cape...we went about $80 for 2 people but was so worth it. We will go back again for sure!
Im surprised that anyone could leave a negative review about Spankys. I guess you cant please everyone all of the time. Except for me no one in my family even likes seafood, but because the outdoor seating is so nice and my wife and kids can get other types of food at reasonable prices we make a point to eat at Spankys when visiting the Cape. The service is always good, even when very busy. The fish and everything that is fried is the cleanest tastiest food anywhere. If you love seafood or just great food you will not be dissapointed.
We stumbled upon Spanky's while staying in Hyannis last summer and found it to be a great lunch spot. The fried clams/scallops and lobster roll are fantastic! We will be back this summer and will frequent this great spot.
I am writing to inform you of our lunch experience on May 25, 2008 As a family, we voted between Glouster and Hyannis. Found Spankies website and decided to drive down.
The 1.5 hr drive traveling 55-60 mph at $3.91/gal was intended to be worth the expense.
After arriving we had spent about 30 mins scouting out a parking space. Once found we walked towards the harbor and found a very nicely carved out walk along side. Wait listed our party of 3 at 1:40 p.m.
After the anticipated 30 min wait we were seated and waiting another 30 mins to place our order.
The fried clams were great, the fish and chips were average, and the mussels were bad and had to be sent back. The Virgin Mary was full price even though there wasn’t any alcohol and the coffee was charged and never delivered, therefore, removed from the bill.
We expected more for the $65 lunch.
Ended up at Dunkin Donuts for coffee and pastry and sat on the Hyannis resident’s Beach this saved our excursion!
Unfortunately, we won’t be coming back to Spankies and I’ll let my Colleague who referred us know of the ordeal.
They say feed back is important so we wanted to share ours with you.
Very kitschy tourist spot by the Hyannis ferries. Avoid this place at all costs. The seafood here is absolutely horrid. Fish and Chips were bland (worst I have ever had), Clam Chowder tastes like it came from a Progresso can - but not quite as good and the lobster salad was flavorless and served on iceberg lettuce. Service is on par with Fridays.
