Description

Jackets are required at this formal French restaurant. The highly acclaimed wine cellar is said to hold close to 40,000 bottles, and has won Wine Spectator 's Grand Award since 1987 for "one of the best wine lists in the world." The menu always includes lobster, rack of lamb, fresh fish and Black Angus steak. There are four elegantly appointed dining rooms, including a garden dining area. The restaurant is so popular that advance reservations are a necessity.

One of a kind. Sit in the bar dining room for the real feel. Like going back in time.

It made sense to spend that kind of money when jacket & tie were required: dining there became a real occasion. We found out the hard way there's no drinking at the tiny bar before your reservation. We were low-key but the bartender snarled, gave us dirty looks and eventually told us the bar was "reserved" for another party. BTW, on the cocktail menu was an Old Fashion (sic). So that bad experience cast a shadow over the dinner that followed.

a romantic setting, excellent service and a more modestly priced menu, including a prix fixe. they make it up on the $15 martinis, an extra one wrongly charged to our bill (caught, apologized for, and corrected). too bad people get so loud these days, as if they're in their own homes with no consideration for other diners, and management cannot or will not ask for moderation. this seems to be true all over the island.

Truthfully? Not worth the exalted prices, charming setting notwithstanding. Food combos are just too odd and unpredictable.
