Description

Company of the Cauldron is an interesting name, isn't it? With a name like that, you should be dining at midnight under a full moon at a crossroads. Instead, this restaurant is one of the most romantic places to eat on Nantucket. The menu changes weekly, so you will always be assured of something new. A classical harpist plays three times a week. If you want to take part in this dining experience, you will need to make reservations well in advance as the restaurant only has two seatings a night. The Cauldron serves beer and wine.

i agree wholeheartedly...this is one of our best options for dining on our island. there is one menu per evening....with allowances made for allergies, etc. but you can stop in and read the menus for the coming week, then choose the night that best suits your taste. if i had to pick one place for a special occasion meal, this would be it. i love the idea that all i have to do is select my wine, then sit back and let the food appear. no choices, no descriptions, just wonderful, fresh beautifully prepared food served at a perfect pace. the harp music is a wonderful addition. we've had trouble getting in at the last minute, but you can be placed on a call list and if someone doesn't reconfirm their resie, you might just get lucky! don't miss the company if you visit. it might be the best meal you'll have here.

Lobster risotto was outstanding, lamb is good (the interesting cous cous garnish was the best par of it), chocolate mousse dessert was just OK. Absolutely worth the money and I will go again. However the 28 food rating is not in par with the 28s in New York City, probably overrated by 2-3 points. Also, I personally do not like the style of a set menu and the fact that one needs to plan 2 days in advance to secure a table for sure.

My favorite restaurant on the island- the one place I never miss when I'm on Nantucket. Atmosphere is unique because everyone eats the same meal and there is much conversation between tables. Food is always superb. The lobster crepe on a recent visit was so good everyone was lapping up every drop of sauce with bread!

Interesting.

The name drew me in but the atmosphere and food has kept us coming back. This is a romantic, entertaining restaurant. Candlelit meals with a harpist strolling around. The food has always been very good but it is a four course meal with no options so if you don't like everything this might not be a good choice for you. They have always served a wonderful seafood course when we have been there.

The most romantic restaurant on the island, but since the new chef took over 4 years ago, what used to be a creative single prix-fixe 3 course menu has become a beef lovers dream. 5 out of 7 nights on the weekly menu featured steak. Lamb and veal have disappeared and somebody should get the chef a map to the fish store. But what he does serve is heavenly. Good selection on mid-price wine list

I've eaten here twice in the past two years and have had exceptional meals both times. Not to be missed on Nantucket.

always a treat, but service was really lacking last time. noisy, larger parties, ordering lots of bottles of wine seem to get all the attention. missed the harpist, but maybe they stopped her because she couldn't be heard over the raucous, uncaring drunks.

If you can find a meal that four or more people agree on, this is the place to go

Given the chance, I'd dine here every day of the week -- sampling All Kovalencik's ever-changing and ever-inspired prix-fixe menus.
