Blue Ginger, located in Wellesley, brings urban dining and sophistication to the suburbs. In celebration of its 10-year anniversary, Blue Ginger expanded with a Rockwell Group-designed renovation, creating a chic, feng-shui inspired space with three distinct dining options. Enhancements include an updated main dining room in which to savor Ming's signature East-West cuisine, three private dining rooms, and the new Lounge at Blue Ginger, complete with cozy banquettes and a 10-stool granite bar. An Asian Tapas menu is served in the Lounge, featuring casual, shareable dishes like "Ming's Bings," Ming's East-West take on the burger. "Blue Ginger is unusual, not only because of the food or the room, but because it's a neighborhood restaurant of a type not found too often in the Boston area...those of us who live farther away will just have to travel now that the secret is out." --The Boston Globe *NOTE* Reservations are not accepted for The Lounge at Blue Ginger
My fiancee really wanted to try this place, so I took her there one night. We had reservations and showed up 5 minutes early only to wait 30 minutes for a table. The fried calamari appetizer and accompanying sauce was excellent. The Hanger steak was just okay. The rack of lamb with spicy pesto noodles was just okay as well. The food overall was okay, but not worthy of $35 per entree that they charge.
too loud: I must say that I was expecting totally different atmosphere. I thought it would be nice and quiet place. Instead I felt like I was at the bar. I couldn't talk to my boyfriend and I couldn't hear him. Food was good. Service OK.
1. The food is excellent and worth every penny.
2. Leave room for dessert.
3. It was hectic, but go with it and enjoy the dining experience of Asian fusion food.
4. I will definitely travel to go to the restaurant.
5. Make a reservation.
6. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
we waited for 3 hours to be seated. We don't look rich so we deal with, even though we have no problem affording the meals. We stood and talked to the chef's and had a great time. The first time we went for lunch, the second time it was dinnner. We'll go for lunch next time. less time to wait
I'll wear one of my good suits
The butterfish was one of the best dishes I've ever had. I can't think of anything else to say about it... it melted in your mouth.
I also enjoyed the service. A very nice waiter. I hear Ming Tsai will visit with his customers, but on the day we were there he was apparently absent.
The waiter talked me into the the ginger ale, which was made fresh, and it was very tasty. I surprisingly liked it, despite not really liking the strong taste of ginger.
Overall, a great experience. I would definitely go again.
You wouldn't think grilled steak goes with cold cucumbers or foie gras in Chinese shao mui, but they blend together and complement perfectly. This is Asian fusion done right. The atmosphere is a little louder than I'd like but is pleasant.
Blue ginger is a rather upscale resturaunt located in Wellsley Massachusetts. Blue Ginger is a oriental eatery with american flare. My scrumptious meal began with crispy pot stickers for an appetizer. For diner I had the shrimp scampi. The shrimp were cooked perfectly. For dessert I had ice cream with a mini alomond cone. Overall my meal was very refreshing.
