Venture outside Boston's bustling city center to visit Newton Upper Falls and its historic pub, The Biltmore. Local legend tells of the bar's function as a speakeasy when its doors first opened in 1921 (the start of Prohibition). Since its rather illicit beginning, The Biltmore has become a favorite place for laid-back lunches and post-work drinks. Lounge with friends in a comfortable banquette, or chat up the staff by the bar. The menu features a range of fresh seafood dishes like Ale Steamed Mussels and Rhode Island Stuffed Cherry Stone Clams, as well as plenty of traditional pub fare to complement the drinks menu. In addition to beers and wines, the bar serves up specialty mixers like the Blueberry Gimlet and Watermelon Cooler that are tasty treats on a summer's day.
