Taberna De Haro
Authentic, creative and sometimes salty tapas are the specialty at Taberna de Haro, including frog legs, octopus, garlicky mushrooms and grilled asparagus. Fear not, as there is plenty of sherry and sangria to wash it down. You cannot order large plates here, so experiment with the wide selection of tapas. The warm yellow walls and small tables add to the laid-back atmosphere. Summer dining outdoors is a joy in this fun corner of Brookline.
The service was quite poor, the waitresses were unfriendly, unattentive and all looked as if they had rolled out of bed. The food was mediocre at best. If you enjoy poor service and a big bill, this is the right place for you.
Deborah and her team are fabulous restauranteur's. Finally, after years of seaching we found Spain in Boston.
Deborah has no doubt one of the largest wine cellers in Beantown - she will help you to select the appropriate vintage to match your meal - just ask! And, be sure to enjoy this gem of a dining experince with your favorite person or a group of friends.
This was my first time eating Tapas. The food was excelent, tasty, and light and cheap, (the dishes we ordered). Over all a satisfying experience.
However, I cannot say the same for the service/cutomer relations. I checked other reviews on this place (clicked on the website link only to find out it does not exhist), and was told reservations were accepted. I called to find out they DO NOT take reservations, but you can put you name in, as if it would make any difference. The wait staff was pretty annoying, always butting in to our conversation, and when the bill came ($40 for the 2 people w/o drinks), I was told (quite rudley) that I could not use AMX, even though the reviews said only Visa/MC and AMX.
SO, if you are in the mood for some good Tapas and bad service, be sure to bring extra cash (just in case they decide to stop accepting credit cards al together).
This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in boston because the food was delicious, but the last two times I went were very disappointing. Last week I ordered the lamb chops and they came out dry and over cooked and the artichokes were swimming in grease. The rest of the food seemed bland and flavorless. When I told the waitress she was very apologetic and took the lamb chops and artichokes off the bill. I've decided to give it one more try and if the same thing happens then I'll try Dail.
My husband and I discovered this place while we were still dating. Over the years we frequently went there whether by ourselves or with several friends on different occasions and always spent a good amount of money. I am now eight months pregnant (therefore cannot drink alcohol) and recently took a friend there for dinner. Was I shocked when while we were still drinking our coffee, Debra, the owner, came to our table to point out that we had been there for TWO HOURS and that she had a lot of people waiting for a table. I suppose that without ordering alcoholic beverages, we were not spending enough to be worthy of a pleasant experience. First of all, we waited fifteen minutes before the waitress came to take our order. When she finally started helping us, it was with an incredibly begrudging attitute (she started removing our plates while we were still chewing!), all of which my friend and I were willing to overlook. But when the owner came to practically kick us out, well let us just say that my husband and I will NEVER go there again, let alone recommend this to anyone. And they call themselves a Spanish Restaurant.....
This is my favorite restaurant. The food has the most amazing flavors and the vibe is warm, sexy, and inviting.
Actually, being a life time Bostonian, I feel that Taberno de Haro is the quintessential local spot for dinner with friends and/or family. It just gives the homey romantic feeling we all can really appreciate when dining out.
We used to live a block away and went all the time-it was a surefire way to have a nice dinner as a couple. The owners and waitstaff were always so welcoming and friendly-we've been in NYC for two years now and still can't find a place we like as much. We just ordered about 6 or 7 of the tapas (not entrees) and that made it relatively inexpensive/filling to boot. (You must order the croquetas! I miss those the most...)
