Bella's Italian Restaurant, Rockland

My husband and I are from Texas and a couple of times a year we travel to the northeast. We have made Bella s a regular stop for us. Lenny (owner) is an amazing host. The service is exceptional and the food is always fresh and the best we ve had in any italian restaurant. Servings are plentiful, drinks are great and wine selection is above average. We recently took a group to celebrate our daughters college graduation from Brown. Lenny and the whole staff made the celebration more than we could have imagined. A great time was had by all and we walked away with lots of boxed up food for the next day. We will be going back to Bella s every chance we get and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for great Italian food and a wonderful atmosphere with a professional staff. We've always enjoyed Bella's Restaurant but tonight I was pushed over the edge and will not return in a long, long while(if ever)! We frequent Bella's bar area...enough that the waitresses know us. Tonight, we sat at a two-top table by the edge of the lobby. Ordinarily, it would be ok except that there was a larger table on the other side of the room away from the door. We were told that it was reserved for a larger party. They had at least 3 of their smaller tables pushed together to accomodate a party of 10-11 which left little seating for smaller parties in the bar. Well, that larger table sat open/unoccupied the entire time that we were there. So, we froze our asses off by the door while it would have been very possible for them to seat us at the larger table and turn it over in plenty of time. Unfortunately, do to this experience, the waitresses are the ones that suffer since they probably could've seated another party or two in that time and well we weren't going to be extra generous with the tip when we froze. Then, when we approached the manager about this practice that they have(which is fairly recent), he just stomped off yelling at us...very mature, professional(sarcasm!)...glad he doesn't manage anything for me!!! Food is good, although tonight the pasta sauce was extremely spicy and service is usually decent.
