Sol Azteca is the best food, atmosphere, service, and hospitality served up in Boston. Moving to Boston from LA I thought I would die trying to find a good Mexican reataurant. I did die when I went to Sol Azteca and had their wonderfully smooth rich Sangria, fresh chips and well balanced salsa, and followed that by an entree it was heaven. (I often got the prawns with a green cilantro sauce that was delicious) -can't remember the name of the dish, but if you describe it they will serve it. I worked nearby in the 70's and early 80's and wnet there weekly. Moved away, and upon returning to enroll my neice in college there in 1995, we went, they even remembered me, brought out a pitcher of Sangria and my family & I enjoyed the wonderful food just as I remembered it. It is a must if you like quality food and professional but friendly service.
I have to admit, this is the best Mexican restaurant I have been to; the food here is unique and excellent and so is the environment! I recommend this restaurant to all who like great taste in their food.
I no longer live in Boston, but this is still my favorite restaurant in the world - my first meal there was in 1978, I ate there several times a year (including both Boston and Newton locations) until moving in 1998. Now, I visit whenever I return. They serve a sauteed purple cabbage, mexican rice, and black beans (instead of pinto beans) with the traditional dishes, which are wonderful. The chicken enchiladas verdes (green sauce)are my favorite, I also enjoy the tostadas. The food quality is consistent, at both locations. The homemade sangria goes down smoothly and is delightful while snacking on the tortilla chips and salsa before your meal.
