Decided to try this place that was recommended from our tour guide and was shocked by the prices.. and the taste of the food was not good.We had to seat at a leaning table that made it rough on the back and hard for your plates and drinks not to slide off.

My husband and I went to Boston for the weekend and came across this place Friday night. We stopped in for drinks only. The place was busy, but our bartenders were fantastic! Very prompt and friendly. The manager came over and offered us a sample of a new tequila they just got in (it was pink!). We had such a good time that we went back Saturday! Next time we're in Boston we will definitely go back. PS - the view is spectacular!

Went there in 2009. The clam chowder was mostly soup and potatoes with no clams and watery. The lobster stuffed w' shrimp and scallops was 99% bread stuffing. The crab cakes were also mostly breading.

Worst experience we had in a long time. If your from NY and they sense it, you will not get the time of day. We sat at the bar area and probably asked 10-15 time to order food and drinks, and they wouldn't even look at us. I will ever go their again, and tell every one from NY NEVER to go to that terrible dump!!!!!

This place stinks!! In a nutshell this is a tourist trap that charges outrageously high prices for low quality food and delivers very poor service. What happened? We ate at the BC on August 17th. We knew right away we were in a tourist trap but we don't mind paying high prices as long as the food and experience are good. How does $8 for a small cup of clam chowder sound? Or $33 for a small lobster (plentiful this season)? I ordered the baked cod which came with mashed potatos and vegetables. The cod was drowning in liquidy sauce that totally killed what should have been a good piece of fish. The potatos and vegetables were stone cold. I had our waitress take the sides back for heating. 15 minutes later (everybody in my family was done with their meal by the time they came back) the sides arrived. The mashed potatos were sitting in an inch of water in the bowl and the veggies were cold and rubbery. I drained the water on the potatos and found the inside was FROZEN. FROZEN?!!? This time I asked to speak to the manager (Greg Gregory) since something is clearly wrong in the kitchen. Greg acted none too concerned and merely said he would take them back for another try. I told him we had a plane to catch so we would have to get moving. All he said was "o.k." and moved on as quick as he could. Greg is seemingly in the wrong profession. Greg's remedy for this situation was to not charge us for a soft drink. I called him over again and told him that was a feeble attempt to win some customer loyalty considering I missed half my meal. He said I didn't complain about the cod so that was fair. Off he went. I wouldn't hire this guy to run a popsicle stand. There are so many great places to eat in Boston, don't waste your time at the Barking Crab.

I WOULD NEVER EAT HERE.. WARNING TOURIST TRAP ALERT... First, I would like to say that the Barking Crab is absolutely awful. The food lacks depth, flavor, and creativity. Do not eat any of the items that are sauteed since the fra diavlo sauce is a watery mess, the beurre blanc isn't a beurre blanc rather rotten cream sauce and almost 90 percent of the food is pre-made or frozen. The clams and calamari are usually a few days old oh and by the way this place is infested with rats. So it is easy to say that the sanitary conditions aren't up to code. The waitstaff is inexperienced, along with the Management especially Kris Kratsas, which is probably the downfall of the Barking Crab Boston. I have first hand knowledge that the Barking Crab "releases," employees before their 90 days so they do not have to pay for insurance or give a reason for the termination." They have gone through multiple upon multiple turn-overs through out the front and back of the house and even the management isn't s

BEWAREIf you are African American please do not dine here. The incident I witnessed last night was absouetly appalling. I'm a professional white male, and I felt embarrassed by the way this nice couple was treated, I'm almost positive it was because of their race!!! It was almost 30 mins before any waiter went over to there table. I'd seen two parties come in after them, & almost immediately they were served. They've lost my business........

Barking Crab is very chill.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/8/09
The Barking Crab is a great place for after work drinks or a day out walk ing around Boston. Located right on the harbor. This place is perfect for cold beers, clams, shrimp, and fish. Very chill. You will feel like you are sitting at a beach side bar at the Barking Crab.

Just what you'd expect from a fried seafood joint - good fried clams, peel em shrimp, soft shell crabs, etc. Loud and raucous with an atmosphere to match. Sits on a pier in Boston Harbor. Don't go there for an intimate evening as you will be eating with your fingers and a roll of paper towels. Nice that you don't have to travel all the way to Maine to get fresh seafood.

Eight hour trip to Boston, trying to get a true "Boston" experience. Found this restaurant, and let's just say that it was one of the worst eating experiences I've ever had. Plastic utensils and paper plates. They give you a rock to open up the crab. God knows if they even clean it. What a farce! I could have done so mush more with my 60++ dollars.
