S & S Restaurant
S&S Restaurant has been around since 1919 and is a Sunday brunch favorite. Families, couples and hung-over college students flock here for the all-day breakfast and deli food. The lox will cure what ails you. This restaurant is also a very popular caterer, with hot meals, sandwiches and breakfast foods. The restaurant also offers a full service bar.
I've never been treated so poorly at a restaurant. Met an old friend for breakfast late morning on a random saturday in early December. Ate slowly catching up, wait staff started pressuring us to leave at 30 minutes, 10 minutes later repeated rude comments asking us to vacate even when I told them we were old friends that hadn't seen each other in 2 years. 15 minutes later a supervisor (or senior waitstaff) came over, even ruder. Will never return. Food ho-hum.
It was the worst experience I had with a restaurant. They overcharged me 362.00 on a 10 dolar bill and when I tried to speak to upper management about retrieving my money he was very rude and unprofessional. I would rather sit on glass with my bare backside for 10 hours then ever eat here again.
Took my wife and my 9 month old baby, the hostess was very friendly, she took the baby's stroller with heart beat. sat at a table, and had to wait more than 10min for the waitress to come in...with a starving baby, 10min is really a long time..we requested a slice of untoasted bread for the baby as we placed our order with the waitress who seemed really far from being friendly nor hospitable, again, I had to remind her after another 10 min of the bread...just drama!! I knew I wasn't going to have a pleasant time, I should have left on the spot, didn't want to be rude, but I paid the price... The food was sloppy, tastless at all. Maybe the waitress was having a bad day, but regardless, this is hospitality business where you've got to be friendly.
Bottom line...Very disapointed, will never go back, will never recomend it!!! sorry, that's just the truth!!
The food at The S&S meets expectations for a deli. It's good. But without fail, the service is always awful. The wait staff is slow and unattentive, I have to ask for the check every time. They won't bring it to you unless you ask it seems. It also takes forever to place your order. Even at the pick up counter- the staff is rude and slow 9 times out of 10. The only reason I keep going back is the convenience factor- I work close by. If your goal in a meal is to be frustrated and disappointed, The S&S is the place to be.
I went to S&S for the first time on Mother's Day. When my fiance and I walked in; the restaurant was extremely crowded. I was a little hesitant to stay because the tables are very close together and there isn't much privacy. I am very happy that I did stay. The food was absolutely PHENOMENAL. We had Mimosas with our bruch and the Mimosas were mixed just right. The food is not overly priced and the staff are professional and polite. Overall, my experience was great!
Just got into town. Great place for the price.... forget what you heard, by far the best calm chowder in Boston. I would suggest this and Legal Seafoods as your first stop for seafood here in Boston.
Since it is not totally easy to score good food/ good value in Hahhvahd Sq. environs, S&S stands out in its rock solid auhenticity. Don't go there to be suprised! Do admire the girth of the average patron and assume you will be fed, and properly. Likeable, and modern, very non-tacky
I had the best eggs benedict in my life here. Fast freindly service was ank added bonus. Our waiter was good natured and seemed genuinely interested in our dining experience. No wonder this place has been doing booming business since 1919.
The S&S in Inman Square is a popular brunch location adorned with nostalgic pictures of Inman Square and the S&S from a simpler time.
The food is great and a great value. My wife loves the corned beef hash, and I'm a big fan of the Nova Scotia Benedict (eggs benedict with lox).
We've also had a family event catered by the S&S and they are very efficient.
The only complaint is that on Sundays it is so busy that the wait seems unbearable. Though S&S offers their brunch menu across the street at Ryles jazz club, you are better served waiting for a table at the S&S. The service and food at Ryles are not on par with the S&S.
