Middle East (The)
The Middle East is not only a moderately priced Lebanese restuarant but also a place to enjoy live bands, CD releases and music shows. The food is delicious and the ambiance is lively. The bar upstairs keeps busy almost every night with events or theme parties. Every Sunday, there is a belly dancing show, the entry to which is free.
I don't eat out due to the unhealthiness of takeout, however, The I frequent The Middle East at least twice a week. Great service, GREAT FOOD, an not expensive at all. If you go before 4pm ANY DAY you can get a very nice sized portion meal for only $6.00 which costs a little less than half of the same portion as dinner.
P.S. Try the Lamb Shank. Delicious!
The Middle East is an incredible venue for live music. They get up and coming acts, as well as established bands to play the downstairs. The Upstairs/Downstairs concert venues, as well as the restaraunt and bar make the Middle East a true all-in-one restaruant/club. The food is very good, and very inexpensive. Tickets to see bands are dirt cheap (I saw four bands at the downstairs for $10)!
If you want to hear some great live music in a fun atmosphere try the Middle East Club. I prefer the downstairs simply because there's more room but I've seen great shows in the upstairs too. You usually get some new rising talent that blow you away. And it's cheap - usually no more then $10.
upstairs, the corner or downstairs at the MiddleEast - you can't go wrong. Easy to get to from Central Sq on the red line, great variety of shows and lots of em. I'd say we saw about 80% of the shows we went to in Boston there.
