This restaurant specializes in contemporary Japanese cuisine, serving such tantalizing dishes as chicken cutlets, chicken teriyaki, and rice bowls, and uses only the finest and freshest of ingredients in all of the prepared-to-order meals.
I'll admit I was a little skeptical the first time my boyfriend took me to Cafe Mami -- there's very little seating space and we were oddly positioned at a table with two other couples -- the food simply can't be beat. I'm usually not a fan of miso soup, but I love it there. I usually order the veggie teriyaki, sometimes with chicken, and the sauce is absolutely heavenly.
I've tried most (all?) of the other restaurants and stands in Porter Exchange, and nothing else is as good. I hate long waits (and because there are so few seats, there's often a wait at peak times), but I'm always willing to wait rather than eat anywhere else.
One final note - they're closed on Tuesdays, unfortunately.
