Bartley's Burger Cottage, Cambridge

Tourist trap. No credit card, no separate checks, and believe it or not, no bathroom. They sent two of our party two blocks away to the Dunkin Donut. I do not understand how this is legal. I contacted the Ma Dept of Health to ask how they can be open. It makes you wonder what kind of kickbacks these food shows get to promote these places. You can look through the reviews on this and other sites if you don't believe me. Other people complained about this as well.

I went their and watched the older owner (father i think) take coleslaw off a plate that someone didnt eat and reuse it. he put it onto someone elses plate as if it was a natural thing to do. The tables are always dirty with spilled condiments, hamburg grease and dirty napkins. The wait staff is horrible. I watched a blonde haired waitress tell a young woman to eat the burger and stop complaining.

Without a doubt, Definitely the best burgers in the Boston area. The meat is always fresh and tasty, and so are the veggies and assorted accoutrements. Onion rings can't be beat, and Their milkshakes/Frappes are thick and delicious, just as the great god of comfort food intended. About the only downside is that it is always loud and always crowded, but the high quality of the food more than makes up for that. FIVE STARS.

Easily the best burger place in the Boston area. Bartley's grinds their beef fresh every day, cooks every burger to order, and has dozens of amazing choices for toppings. The burgers are big and juicy, the onion rings are as good as anywhere I've eaten, and the atmosphere is fun. During normal lunch hours, expect a line out the door...but they will take your order in advance so that when you get a seat your food comes right out. Go beyond burgers and this place still shines. Meatloaf, Turkey dinner, all the comfort foods.....plus the best milk shake in town. If you live near Boston and have not made the trip to Harvard Square for a burger at Bartley's, you are seriously missing out!

On on Thurs. evening we were drawn into the excitment of trying this place. Unfortuanately, I think it was just that, people are drawn to the excitement. The seating together is o.k. except when your neighbor gets one of your parties orders and you need to hunt down the server to find out where your final order was...best onion rings? I don't think so...greasy ball of muck...the others in our party found the food fair...ironically, the neighbor who got one of our orders ate it then had waited so long and cancelled the rest of thier order and left...
