Everything was perfection. Pricey but worth it in every way.

Mistral Restaurant is perfect for a date.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/6/10
I went on a special date there with my bf. The service, the atmosphere, the view are perfect. However, I thought food was a hit or miss. I ordered several small plates (note: small plates are actually pretty big). My risotto was meh, more like a rice pudding. However, my tenderloin was much better and I loved the desert and little details like cookies at the end. Overall, great for a date, but if you are going for the food, go elsewhere

Maybe their prix fixe menu doesn't include service because there wasn't any provided! The food - which arrived an hour and 20 minutes after we did - was superb. While waiting for food we each drank a glass of wine then practically had to do acrobatics to get the waiter to come back to the table so we could order more. The roasted duck and risotto was fabulous, albeit very rich. The waiter never checked to see if the food was OK. Disappointing.

This restaurant was amazing across the board! My husband and I brought my parents here to celebrate both of our anniversaries, and we had a fabulous time. Our appetizer (the tenderloin pizza) was incredible! I was very impressed with the size of our entres. Since we wanted to celebrate as a family, we also brought our 1 yr. old daughter and our 5 yr. old son, and although the atmosphere and the menu are not ideal for children, we were very nicely accommodated with a highchair for our daughter, and a delicious pizza for our son. He was even invited into the kitchen to meet the chef! The service was impeccable, the food was amazing, and I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone living in or visiting Boston. Bravo!

Very nice meal with good service. The halibut and duck were both outstanding. Salads and desserts were both good. Noise level not bad since bar is separated from restaurant. Excellent wine by the glass selection.

Mistral Restaurant is overrated
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/15/09
very upscale, very pricey and overdone. The food is really good but the ambiance is mediocre, the hostesses and wait staff young and inexperienced. Location is good.

Well-prepared and tasty food but relatively unimaginative food. Beware of the cougers at the bar!

I went here in 2004 and was impressed: White glove service, dishes and serving pieces changed 3-4 times in a meal, water glass always full, and more. I went back last week (winter 2009) and will not return again. The service has slipped big-time: Less timely & less eager to please. The food was over-salted. Worst of all was my father-in-law's birthday cake was brought to us lit with candles while his daughter was in the restroom! Oops.

We had a fabulous meal here -- perfect food with Bistro overtones, impeccable service and great decor. The portions were enormous -- easy to split an appetizer or even forego it altogether. The muscles were prepared shell-less in a somewhat spicey broth -- unusual and terrific. The short ribs and salmon were our choices -- both were special. And where else in Boston could you find Squab on the menu???

never disappoints...the beautiful room and lighting makes everyone glow...They wrote the book on tuna tartare. From pizza to carefully prepared cuisine...after all these years, its still the place to be.
