Located in the Theater District, Montien Boston restaurant gets a lot of pre-show traffic. It is also popular with local college students. The menu offers a wide range of seafood, rice dishes, curry and very yummy noodles. The thai selections are served along with some not-so-common choices, including Tom Yum Goong, a soup with kaffir lime leaves. Soft shell crabs with garlic and pepper are also quite good.
The service was excellent and food was good although not the best I have ever eaten. Wait staff was very patient and offered good suggestions for meals. For an easy meal with attentive staff this is a place to visit.
The only way that this restaurant can receive positive reviews is that so many thai restaurants in Boston are of poor quality. Montien is typical of this. The curries we had (Massaman and Yellow) were thin watery sauces poured over pre-boiled chicken breast and beef and precooked vegetables. This food is assembled rather than cooked. There speciality curry puffs are ripoffs at $7 for four of the smallest curry puffs I've ever seen (think not very crisp puff pastry around samosa stuffing). Sauteed eggplant with beef? Sounds good, give it a miss. Again pre-boiled beef with braised more than sauteed eggplant. The pad thai didn't look bad (I mean come on, how hard is it to make decent pad thai) but $10 seems very steep for a plate of noodles with a very small number of shrimp.
The food was tasty, fresh and very reasonably priced. The waitress's english was a bit limited but we muddled through the sushi menu which is very extensive and the sushi tasted great. The restaurant is pleasant inside and even though it was busy we still received prompt service and we will definitely be going back.
Nice food , good service. As nice as Thai food in Thailand. Good for both people who have never tasted Thai food before and those who really want real Thai food. Ask for the menu for Thais, you will like it.
Montien has great food. Their service was very quick. We loved the Drunken noodles....so much so that we ordered it again that same evening.
I would definitely recommend it and absolutely go back for more!!!
It is also very affordable.
food was great but they couldn't wait to get us out the door

The food was just great. The service? It took a long time to get waited on and the dining room was not busy at all. Then, they hurried us by repeatedly trying to remove plates of food that we were not quite finished with. We were wanting a quiet dinner, but instead got pushed by the waitress who came by the table every few minutes to grab our plates. She left the bill before we had finished the meal......just a little unnerving
