Legal Sea Foods - Park Square, Boston

First impression: hideous decoration and lighting! Most of their entrees are not very special while the service is often poor. Now that I've dined at this place a couple of times, I can't see why you should come there again, either for a friend get-together or a romantic date. Two thumbs down on this one.

19th August 2008 visiting from UK We visited Legal Seafoods close to the Aquarium Boston Harbour having been recommended the chain by a friend. The food was good but pricey compared to seafood across the rest of Boston. The portions were small even by English standards. Our waitress was chatty as usual although a reasonably good server except that she did not offer refills for the children's sodas. At the end of the meal as we paid the bill and left a $20 tip which was 11% of the total (which we thought was a good tip)she proceeded to go into a long dialogue as to how we should know that the expected tip was 20% and that she did not want us to disgrace ourselves in other establishments.She then carried on telling us how little the servers were paid and that they needed the tips. This really coloured our view on Legal Seafoods sufice to say that we will not be returning to this seafood chain and would not recommend it Phyl Phyl

I couple of years ago my husband and I ate at this location and had a wonderful meal. I was very excited when my husband and I decided to vacation in Boston again and have dinner at Legals again. Sadly, I couldn't had walked away more disappointed than I did. The only positive of the entire meal the fish. Both my husband's and my fish was wonderful. The rest of the food was horrible. The $7 Caesar salad tasted like a gas station salad, my baked potato and broccoli was undercooked, and my husband's steak was horrible. The restaurant was so loud that I couldn't hear my husband sitting across the table from me and the wait staff would disappear for long periods at a time. For 2 salads, 2 main courses, and 2 glasses of wine our total was $105. We will not be returning to Legals on our next trip to Boston. There are so many excellent restaurants in the area that will not disappoint like Legals.

This was the best seafood I have had in a long time. Our waitress was wonderful very attentive very personable which was nice. The lobster was so very good, my husbands platter was also wonderful great porportions. I must agree with a few others, a little expensive not to mention the drinks. Beautiful location, our waitress came over asked how everything was offered to break apart my lobster, very good with drinks and making sure we were happy. The freshest lobster ever!!!!! Great atmosphere! I would recomend all my friends and family to go there for any seafood, as a matter of fact, I'm taking my mother for Mother's Day!!

Fried Clam platter was good. Maybe fewer potatoes and more clams would ne nice, but it was good. Atmosphere in Peabody, Massachusetts is loud, busy and unappetizing. As for service - what service. Waiting, waiting, no eye contact, ask hostess to intervene, Brusque response from waitress who clearly did not want to be there. Food at last. Same routine with the check and we finally stood up and moved toward the door. Something gone wrong with the management there. If you're as good as you say you are, Mr. Legal, shape this place up.

Best seafood i have ever had. i had the captains special that came with three types of fish (salmon,mahi-mahi and tilipia) and to my surprise succulant quarter sized plump juicy scallops were grilled to perfection and served on a bed of rice pilaf with mash potatoes. Our waitress was supurb, she helped pick out our entrees and appitizers and was very thorough on her service to us. The dining experience was wonderful. Worth every penny...and the best part was the meal for two including drinks ad an appitizer was less then 80.00 for two people. Very reasonable pricing for the excellent service and great food. I am a customer for life and will always recommend this place to others! Like i said before and can't stress enough....this place is wonderful and soo fresh! You can smell the aroma of the food two blocks away! :)

Always good always fresh.

We arrived at 7:00 p.m. on a Monday night. After having to wait for 45 minutes to be seated we had to wait another 15 mintues just for a waiter to greet our table. Another 5 minutes and we got bread and water. Finally, I got up and spoke to the manager. After waiting 45 minutes for a table and sitting at our table for over 25 minutes we had our order taken. We got our drinks and waited for our soup. We had to ask for drink refills all the time and when our dinners finally came(LOBSTERS) it was missing the butter etc. Again, we had to wait for our waiter to return to get the basics so we could eat. Food was good but the service was so poor that it ruined the eating experience. The bill arrived and for that price I would expect excellent food and service!! Spend your time and money somewhere else where the wait staff and management actually care about the customer!
