Fairmont Copley Plaza (The)
The Fairmont Copley Plaza has been a symbol of Boston's rich history and elegance since its opening in 1912. Centrally located in beautiful Back Bay, this luxury hotel is just steps from many popular historic sites, as well as the celebrated boutiques on Newbury Street . Their dedicated staff delivers incomparable hospitality and impeccable service, with attention to detail, ensuring your stay is perfect. With the completion of an extensive renovation of each of the hotel's 383 well-appointed guestrooms and suites, the restoration of the ballrooms and public spaces, and the addition of a contemporary, rooftop health club, the Fairmont Copley Plaza shines more brightly than ever before.
I went to dinner at the Oak Room on March 18th, 2010. I wuold have to save when it comes to service it was the worst I have ever come across. We waited for 30 minutes to just get some water to drink, then another 10 minutes to wait for our utensils.
I am happy that the food was much better than the service we received.
Will I ever eat there again no, not even if someone paid me.
Nice historic hotel. During our latest trip to Boston we spent two nights at The Fairmont Copley and two nights at the Langham, which also has our review.
The Fairmont is a grand hotel with a gold-plated lobby and is located right in the center of the Back Bay. You can walk to the Copley Place Mall and Newbury Street with ease. Check-in was quick and efficient. We paid $269 for a 4th floor Fairmont Room w/comfy king bed. The room was a reasonable size with quality furniture yet no view to speak of. The view was of the rooms immediately across the way which was awkward not to mention unappealing. Lack of view aside the room was reasonably clean and maintained.
We’d recommend drinks in the Oak Room. Gorgeous atmosphere, nice drink list, somewhat mediocre service and a happening place for the jeans and sneaker set. Only mention the latter because such casual apparel seemed out of place in a grand bar like the Oak Room.
My hubby used the adequate fitness room in the mornings. Limited yet it suited his needs.
The Fairmont is a good choice if you fancy a historic hotel in a central location. We would consider this hotel when we travel to Boston.
I've always seen this hotel as I am from the area. Always noticing how well kept it is. I happen to attend a wedding here recently. Very clean throught out the premises. Staff seem willing to help needed. Being that I didn't stay in the hotel, I can not coment on the rooms personally, Although I have heard great things about the quality of stay here.
I do however, recommend that you are careful if and when you decide to valet your car as I did. Upon my car being returned to me, I notice all my money was missing but other valuables were still in place. No broken windows? locks weren't damaged and $300 radio still intact and working...I wonder what could have happened to my personal funds? Bottom line. valet decided to help themselves to a $60 - $70 tip. I know most of you will say that valuables are not to be left in the car. I agree. I have a few issues about this. Even though it clearly states that they are not responsible for items left in the auto, (that's thier way for covering thier own butts) That doesn't mean the valet attendants can help themselves to a bag full of change. The bag wasn't missing, but the change was. That's why I valet the car in the first place and I actually gave the attendant a tip.
Word of caution. Be careful when you valet.
Great Sevice. Friendly Staff.Beautiful Hotel. I am not a huge fan of Hotels that have no character. This Hotel has plenty. FRom the gorgeous Lobby to the big dog that calls the Fairmont his home. The Oak bar is very classy place. The rooms have ceiling chandeliers six feet tubs abd very comfortable beds.
Excellent hotel, very luxurious, first class all the way. We were there to see the Red Sox and had a fantastic time. Location was great, too, within walking walking distance of great eating and entertainment.
... place to stay. Nice location. Convenient to subway and Copley Plaza. Our room was large with lots of amenities. Do miss a pool. The Oak Room is not well set up. We thought we were dining in the retsuarant but were seated in the bar. This should be clarified up front. Also, what's with the small red wine glasses? Otherwise, staff were great, service was great. Loved Catie and so did our son.
