Bangkok City Restaurant

Description

There are several Thai restaurants along this stretch of Massachusetts Avenue, but Bangkok City Restaurant has the best atmosphere. Popular with area students and patrons of the Boston Symphony Orchestra , the restaurant serves traditional Thai dishes with many vegetarian options. The seafood dishes are a specialty. Try the shrimp and squid fried rice or the sweet and spicy catfish filet. Rumor has it that there is a secret menu with the really spicy dishes on it. T

In town for a conference, slipped out for dinner there. An excellent meal, even for someone who lives in an area with a glut of Thai restaurants. A corn soup that was an interesting change from my usual tom kha gai, flavorful Thai nuggets with a crisp but light exterior and ample filling as an appetizer, and a duck dish with half a duck, boned, and vegetables in a nicely balanced sauce, all washed down with about twice as much Thai iced tea as one usually gets for the price. Service was attentive and charming. I'd go back for lunch tomorrow if they were open on Sunday (not the case).

If you want a tasty dinner, pleasant surroundings and a quick walk to symphony, then this is the place to go. We've been going there for years and have never been disappointed!

You feel like you're in Thailand
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/24/05
The moment you walk in to Bangkok City you can choose to dine and imagine you're in Bangkok or dine as an American eating Thai food. If you choose to experience the restaurant in full you sit at a table low to the ground and order your exotic Thai food basking in the golden decorations and foreign music. Once brought to your plate, the food is wonderful. The spices and noodles will haunt your dreams for weeks. I'm addicted.

Bangkok City Restaurant
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/19/04
I've been eating at this restaurant 8 years since I discovered it. It is probably the best Thai restaurant in Boston. My favorites are the spring rolls (which I get almost every time), beef gra pow (a very spicy dish), and the mango sticky rice (seasonal). Other favorites are the Thai ice tea, the pad thai with either chicken or tofu. Got to try it when you're in Boston.

Perfect environment, Perfect food and service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/17/04
Love it, it is the only restaurant near symphony hall that provides you a elegant and relax environment plus great food and wonderful service. The restaurant is big enough to make you feel comfortable compared to other restaurants around there. The traditional menu, hmm...mmm different, tasty and yummy. And, if you ask them to sit on the special traditional Thai table, wow!! what a great combination. Try it!!!!
