Well…To make it short : French cuisine for tourists.
Christofle cutelery, nice lounge, huge wine menu, little chocolate to finish the dinner… That is good but a little bit “cliché” and certainly not enough for “one of the nicest” Boston restaurant (according to the comments I saw).
Everybody knows Cheval Blanc, Yquem, Margaux, ... Yes, they also know more when it comes to wine like their Cote de Castillon (close to St Emilion area) for just about $40. Nicely chosen.
Yes, service can reflect low end Paris restaurant, but at this level of competition, no way. (we had to ask several time for bread, wine waiter came after the bottle was chosen and served,…)
The food ? Sharpness mark of caramel or Ketchup dot do not make a nice and modern plate. By itself, food was good but unadventurous.
Is it right that L’espalier is competing for an “etoile” ?
I was with three friends, I will make another choice for future business diner as well as special occasions.
My apologies to the Chef and the management but at this level I would expect something special.
L'Espalier is quite possibly the best meal I've had in a few years!! Everything was prepared fabulously, too order and perfect. They have a great selection of meals paired with great wine choices. I tried some new things for the first time here and loved all! I recomend trying the cheese plate samples, they are mouth watering. I also loved the oysters as well as the partridge and quail. The only one thing I would say negative is the openess of the room. Your dining neighbors will hear your conversation! But with that said, it's an excellent experience.
Especially catered to a member of our party who was vegetarian. They listed very careful to the items that the person would eat and would not eat. And delivered magic to them. But that was not what makes this restaurant so great rather, every since interaction is with great respect and to server the customer. Every bit of food was delicious and I ate a lot of food there. If you are having a very special occasion, this is the place to go! Want to impress a future wife, bring her here!
L'Espalier was everything i though it would be and more. Upon arrival we are shown to our table (the setting of the restaurant is beautiful, french chic without been stuffy) adn immedniately offered a glass of champagne (major points there). The meal in itself was delicious, served in courses. They have wine/cheese tasting as welkl, have not been to them yet but most definetively will.
