A wonderfull meal. Expensive but well done - nice location attentive staff - managers helped with wine selection and even offered to take back the bottle if we did not like the choice - wow! Food was well done - white bean soup superb and sole done perfectly. Potatoes not so perfect but no complaints. We will be back for special occasions!

Excellent food matches the service. The Aquacotta soup reminded me of "la mia mama"!

Good food, poor atmosphere
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/21/10
I love the food, love the generous wine pour, hate the pretension. Seriously - the managers/hosts act so high and mighty that it's a real turn off, even with the food as good as it is. If you don't go in draped in pearls or dripping with old money, don't expect to be treated with much respect.

I've taken my family there three times since new management. While the food can be great, I've had to sent things back to the kitchen. I've more than once waited too long to be served. Absolutely worst of all, the maitre de (who may be the owner that others describe here) is arrogant and rude. He has actually refused us an open table then given it to the next guests. On confrontation, he actually lied to our face. We won't ever be returning.

Toscano is excellent
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/10/09
I loved the atmosphere and the food in this place. Excellent little rstaurant for some fine Italian food. The prices weren't bad and I would definitely recommend it to others.

Have enjoyed Toscano at least a dozen times since the refurbishment, and have not be been disappointed yet. Only complaints would be the prices are high and the restaurant can be a bit noisy. Food and service have been outstanding.

Risotto had too much liquid and wasn't arborieto rice. Gnocchi with tomato sauce and basilic were excellent. Ambiance was extremely noisy. Difficult to hear our server speaking to us. Service very good and professional.

In response to the reviewer from Beacon Hill, I too was chastized by the owner. I called regarding handicap access and wanted a bit of info re: restaurant access and he bluntly told me NOT to come to his restaurant, and hung up on me!!!!!!!!! This restaurant is cursed, Had the worst restaurant experience of my life in this place under the FORMER owners. Not much better now!

Cozy yet comfortable inside, friendly and attentive service. Decent wine list comprised almost entirely of Italian selections, at about 150% markup across the board. Mussels steamed in lemon/herb broth were delicious, the broth good enough to sop up with the crusty Tuscan bread that had delivered to the table right after we sat down. Pastas were perfectly cooked to the bite and absolutely delicious. Great food at decent prices. Will return.
