It was overall a mediocre experience. The service was all over the place and we were served by at least 4-5 different servers, none of whom paid much attention. The duck entree was tough, greasy, and pretty tasteless. The only really good course was the warm chocolate fondant. The bread and charcuterie appetizer were pretty good, too. Overall, a mediocre experience that did not meet our expectations.

Went to the Natick location for pre Valentines dinner. You kind of forget you are in a mall when you go in. The entrees were excellent the fried fish appetizer was not. Bread assorment was great and goats cheese and garilc shallot bread spreads were very nice. Wine service did not match the pricing. Wrong vintage was offered without note and the wine glasses were constanltly overfilled (2005 burgundy poured 3/4 full in a bordeaux glass).

Had lunch at Sel de le Terre today (Monday) and the food was excellent, but the service was very very slow. I had eaten before at the restaurant in Natick and found it great, with very prompt service. We wanted a leisurely lunch, but this was much too slow.

Had dinner in the waterfront location recently. The roast chicken and macaroni and cheese with truffles were outstanding. The breads delicious. Seared tuna was fresh but had a fibrous piece running through it. The salmon was good. The service was very adequate.

We stopped in for lunch. Chose a fish pate and risotto. Both were very good. Wonderful ambiance as well.

This restaurant is, disappointingly, consistently mediocre. I want it to be great, but the dishes are simply too unexciting. There isn't much to complain about, but what you get just isn't exciting at all - and not in the way that makes you want to return just because its consistent. Some things can be quite good (the French toast, the steak frites). Overall the experience there feels a little sterile - needs some creativity and life to it.

Food is inconsistent from excellent to just ok. Small portions can be overlooked but tiny portions here - need to order double appetizers unless you are just looking for a bite sized meal. Menu can be inventive at times. Overall its a quality restaurant but to justify its prices they may need to take another look at what they are doing.

Food, Service and Ambience were all downgraded. Has expansion ruined Sel de la Terre?
