Boston Sail Loft

Description

This seafood restaurant serves old-fashioned New England fare in a great waterfront setting. Some might call the decor tacky, with ship wheels, lobster pots and fishnets adorning the wood-paneled walls, but it is reassuring that places like this are still around. Get a table by the window, order the twin lobster special and watch the boats come into dock, and you will be glad that you did not go to a crowded tourist trap and pay twice as much. The restaurant has a full service bar.

My husband and I took our kids there a decade ago and loved it. The clam chowder was the best! We went there again this past week and enjoyed just as much as we did then. Great food! Nice scenery right on the waterfront.

i was very impressed. i had been to several 'touristy restaurants' and this was the complete opposite. the food was amazing. try the clam chowder. the waitress was very nice. they have non seafood items for members in your party that want something else. so enjoy the view and authentic atmosphere!

This bar is the WORST bar I've been to in Boston. The service was horrible. The waitress caught an attitude and THREW money on the floor. The manager was no better--he took no action against this foul server. I will NEVER go back to this horrible place. For other patrons, I suggest Hurricane O'Reilly's or Clerys in the Back Bay...the service there is always above par and the wait staff appreciates their customers.

There is no place like home!

As a New England transplant, residing in the state of Ohio, it is impossible to great chowder. On a recent trip to Boston we stopped by the Sail Loft. This was not an accident. With all the great resturants in Boston there is still only one place that I would go for CHOWDER and that is the Sail Loft. Living in the land of ribs and wings, it was really nice to enjoy the taste of New England! Try it you will not be disappointed. Pat Burns Strongsville Ohio

This is my favorite pub in Boston. The menu has lots of variety and the chowder is amazing! The kids love the jar of Oreos on the bar for dessert.

Best bar in Boston.
By ,
The bartenders are the best in town, and the waitstaff is attentive and friendly. The seafood is excellent, as are the potato skins and Turkey/Cheeseburger club(s). The bar scene at night is also one of the best in town. I love the Boston Sail Loft so much that I spend at least one night of my birthweek there every year....

One of my favorite places!
By ,
I lived just up the street from the Sail Loft for 10 years. It is a favorite of locals. We would often go there after spending a day sailing. It was always crowded w/ locals in corporate dress after work, tourists in shorts & sunburns, and sailors covered in sea salt. Service & food was good, quick & reasonably priced. No pretensions from customers, or bar & wait staff. I miss it!
