Went for lunch, the mussels had sand in them, so my cioppino was ruined. I sent it back and got something else, which was OK. Kind of ruined my meal. The others eating enjoyed everything. I will note that we also went to the LTK at the airport and had very well prepared scallops, so this increased my vote a little.

An excellent seafood restaurant. Boston chowder excellent. At a minimum top 5 in Boston area. Lobster cooked to perfection. Excellent seafood recipes and fresh seafood. Dcour varies between locations but of a high quality. Striving for high quality service but not the professional waiter in some locations. If you have not eaten at Legal Seafood in Boston Harbor you should reserve your final judgement. If you truly like seafood it is a must to try

Really good service and mediocre at best food. Lobster was bland. My garlic shrimp over pasta dish had been left under the heat lamp waaay too long. Waiter was very apologetic and manager (or supervisor or whatever) came by and apologized and brought a complimentary dessert which was pretty good, but overall the food left us very dissappointed.

Over rated. Not worth the price. Glorified cafet food. Bring back the old days when they cared about the food.

Sets the standard for consistently fresh seafood. And, now introduces a really bad idea! At the end of a meal the server brings a "device" for you to tap keys and set about four options, e.g. tip %...cold, mechanical and not in keeping with the atmosphere af a 4100 meal for two. Legal becomes IHOP!

It is very sad that I will never dine at Legal Seafoods again. I've been eating at Legals since Inman Square, when everyone seemed to care about their food and your experience. It takes a lot for me to turn on an establishment that has provided me with so many wonderful meals over the last four decades. But two bad experiences was followed up by the inexcusable -- apathetic service, food and management. The particulars are unimportant. Sad

Decent to very good food and great wine list joined with bad service and policies. I really do not like the pay by machine and select your tip while the server lingers over you. Typically I ask for a printed check instead and my request is graciously accepted (often with the comment that many people do not like this system). But today the server refused and was very rude in front of my guests.

Mediocre food in a production atmosphere; living off their name when they were a unique location. You can do much better with any well rated owner run restaurant in town.

WARNING: A confirmed reservation here (Copley Square) is NOT a reservation, but only a priority on the line of people waiting -- ahead of those without reservations and behind others with!! They do NOT hold a table. This policy is unreasonable unless they explicitly tell you when you make reservations. Our wait of over 25 minutes resulted in a quite rushed meal before the theater. Fortunately, the wait staff is efficient and the food is good.

Good: extremely fresh, high quality shellfish and fin fish. As sweet and fresh mussels I've had outside of PEI. Bad: Mediocre food preparations and generally inept service.Conclusion: good place if you need your fix of raw shellfish or a quick appetizer and a drink, for a meal, go elsewhere.
