Absolutely love this restaurant. I travel a lot for work and have been to many, many restaurants, so I consider myself at least a little knowledgable in this area. Luna Rosa is down the street from where I grew up and Mom still lives in Tewksbury. Whenever I visit her and have the opportunity, I will also go here for dinner or lunch. The prices are a little on the high side (you get what you pay for), but the food and service are wonderful. The specials are great. I've been going there off and on for over 6 years and I have never been disappointed.
We had dined at the Luna Rossa several times and personally enjoyed the experience each time. So we arranged for a high school graduation party for our granddaughter to be held there. The manager, David, in a personable and efficient manner, took care of all of the arrangements. Approximately 40 people attended; all ages. Without exception, everyone had a wonderful time. They commented on the charming decor and the warm atmosphere. We had requested that the dinner be served family style and we had our choice of two appetizers and three entrees, all delicious, followed by mini pastries and of course a piece of the graduation cake. The service was excellent. All of the guests commented that the restaurant was outstanding and, as a result, what a wonderful time they had. It was a memorable experience for all of us.
Little skeptical going in since the location is a little plaza with a Dunkin Donuts, liquor store, dry cleaners, etc. but I was pleasantly surprised! Inside of restaurant is very nice and clean, well decorated with an open kitchen. All the staff are dressed nicely even the chefs. The menu has a lot of Italian staples on it even pizzas. We had salads as our starter course and both were fresh and the balsamic dressing was excellent. I chose the braised pork shank with a marsala sauce and mashed potatos for dinner. It was an absolutely amazing dish! The portion was quite ample. The sauce was very yummy. The meat fell off the bone and was so tasty. My husband had a tortellini dish which was made of high quality tortellinis. Not sure if they hand make their own but they were definitely not a mass produced stuffed pasta. We were too full to try dessert but I'm sure that would have been fantastic. Service was very prompt, dishes were cleared quickly and my water glass was refilled each time I drained it. Overall an amazing dinner! I've found a new gem! Don't judge a book by it's cover. You must try this place. We cannot wait to go back and try some more dishes or their pizzas.
