This restaurant main fair is italian food, which was great, but to be honest, it did lack just a little zing to the meals. The service was great, though, and they have a huge hall to entertain.
So if you like your meals fresh and not spicy, this is definitely the place to go.
Went here once during last summer. The place was incredibly hot, there was no air on, the food barely rated mediocre and the staff was grouchy, no doubt because they were sweating to death. Not at all impressed.
This is a great place to go, eat great food, nice family atomsphere, the owners are usually walking around talking to everyone, you can play the lottery and keno, or watch tv in the bar areas. HUGE BAR area!....
I'm always treated right, and the food is great!
It really is a shame that this place isn t good. I live right down the street and keep going back, hoping to like it. I prefer local privately owned restaurants over chain restaurants. The staff is very friendly and nice, but the food is absolutely horrible. I have been here over a dozen times and tried several menu items. Unfortunately, you can remodel the place but unless you change the food quality, this place is still terrible. Same menu as before, with only a few new items. The safest best is a burger or appetizers. For a restaurant that claims to be Italian, the sauce tastes like it is from a can, the pasta is definitely from a box. I ordered a steak and the piece was so fatty I couldn t get a knife through it. I hate sending food back, but the very nice waitress noticed I wasn t eating and asked what was wrong. She was overly apologetic, but I have never been to a restaurant, even a chain restaurant, where you send back a meal because it isinedible and a manager doesn t visit your tble. No apology, nothing. That is just rude. They lost a local who would have made this place a weekly stop, if only the food was better.
This isnt a place to get $$$$ food, its a nice family run resturaunt, comfortable for the bridge club, or your 4 year old and your beer drinking buddies.
The food was great, highly recommend the specials board, and this was a charming place to attend a wedding. It is so easy to get too.
Take your Mom to Walmarts then for a nice tea and reuben, or a juicey hamberger or beer. Need a place where you can take the baby after a dentist appointment where you BOTH can relax and eat!!
I would say the wait staff is so freindly and accomodating. I always like it.
AND yes its in OXFORD, but at the middle of two high ways 12/20 and not far from 395 (to the casinos) and 90.
I had my wedding here in Sept.2012. My wife s family is Portuguese & as part of a traditional Portuguese wedding it is customary to offer bottles of wine with the meal. My wife s parents purchased 44 bottles of wine & 44 pitchers of soda, 2 per table for 22 tables. This was their gift for our wedding & Periwinkles (now J Anthony’s Italian Grill) completely ruined it. We had various meetings w/them over 1 yr & 1/2 at which we discussed having 1 bottle of red wine & 1 bottle of white wine at each table & 2 pitchers of soda. My wife s parents paid for these products well in advance of the wedding & they were not delivered. When we arrived at the reception wine bottles & pitchers had been placed on my wife s parent s table & 2 nearby tables but no other tables in the entire facility. My mother-in-law brought this to the attention of 1 of the managers, Jason, & he refused to correct the situation. After the wedding, when my mother-in-law spoke with the owner he was completely rude to her & refused to refund her for the product & service she paid for which was not delivered. In trying to resolve this during our wedding reception, my wife s mother missed the cake cutting, bouquet toss & garter toss. My wife was completely heartbroken that her mother missed such important parts of our wedding that can never be recreated. Since our wedding, we have learned from guests not only that their tables did not have the wine bottles & pitchers of soda which were paid for, but also that some of our guests were charged $30/bottle for wine that in-laws had already paid for. Additionally, the facility failed to give my photographer the meal I paid for. He worked a 10 hr day w/no meal due to this. The owner told my mother-in-law he would call Mon. 10/01/12 to speak with my wife directly & never did. We are completely disgusted by the service provided by this facility. The owners still have made no effort to correct their mistakes at my wedding. In December, after my wife posted a review to Yelp, the manager (the owner s son) called to offer to settle the situation. He said that he would be contacting us with an amount as an offer of settlement. He never contacted us and never sent any reimbursement. He has yet to resolve the situation. I am completely dissatisfied and wouldn t recommend them to anyone!
