Wolf Creek is awesome but not for everybody!
By ,
I love "the Wolf" because of it's steep runs in trees, chutes, and Alberta face. And, it get's hammered with powder. It's high up, cold, and snows a lot. Bring good quality warm gear and fat boards. Short hikes can really pay off here. It's got relatively short runs and only one lodge. I ski so the flats that some boarders don't like are no problem to me. If you are about serious skiing in steep powder for a great price, Wolf Creek is hard to beat. And, the lodging prices and hots springs in Pegosa are awesome. But, the pass to it does close a lot. It reminds me of skiing in A-basin in the 60's, I love this place.

Family Friendly
By ,
This place has always been my favorite in Colorado. I've been going for 18 years. Although some might say the terrain lacks, it has a great variety to satisfy beginners to experts. The food and ski/snowboard rentals are very affordable As a kid i went through the kids lessons (called Wolf Pups) and it was phenomenal. Wolf Creek is less crowded, and the people are not as impatient, rude, and arrogant as you'll find in the nicer areas., such as Vale, Telluride, or Aspen.

Family-Friendly Skiing, Lodging & Food
By ,
My family LOVES to visit here as lift tickets for the entire family are affordable. The compact lower lodge makes a great meeting place and it is difficult for the teens and tweens to get very lost on the slopes. Parking is easily accessible and close-by Pagosa Springs offers many low and mid-priced lodging and meals. Plenty of fast-food as well as family-friendly restaurants. Not as glitzy as some ski-areas, but perfect for us.

Best in the West
By ,
I have been going to Wolf Creek since 1978 and it has never dissappointed. The waterfall area is a treat when there is fresh powder which is deep and often at this jewel of a ski hill. Not for those seeking posh amenities, but just right for families wanting to ski their collective brains out!

Hidden Secret!!!
By ,
Why is it that every skiier in the west knows tat Wolf Creek is the best! Boarders, there is no terrain park, but besides that? It has super krackley fresh powder, super friendly staff, great food ( WolfBurger! ).. & cheap to stay in either Pagosa, or S. fork. I always stay in Riverbend Resort. Its near S Fork & cozy.

mucho pow-pow!!
By ,
Lots of snow but terrain lacking - Only short steep pitches with flats between- Careful staying in Pagosa Spgs on west side of pass-- as pass closes frequently then you're stuck waiting (not skiing) until road re-opens- Combine this with a few days in Crested Butte or Taos-
