Wild Mountain in Taylors Falls has been owned and operated by the same family since 1972. Normally one of the first to open and last to close in the Midwest, the operators have long been known for cranking the snowguns up before Halloween when the weather permits. The earliest they ever opened was Oct. 19, 1991. They normally never close before April, and you can generally count on them to be 100 percent covered by Thanksgiving most years.Described as "wild and bumptious," Wild Mountain rocks until 3 a.m. on Friday nights during the ski season from late November through February. It also boasts some of the biggest bumps in the region.ActivitiesSnowboarding: A Superpipe and terrain park with spines, quarter-pipes, and tabletops located on Midway. It has its own lift. There are various table tops, jumps, spines, and quarter-pipes located throughout the area. Snowboarding allowed on all runs.Cross Country Profile: Cross country trails are available at the nearby River State Park.LodgingNo lodging available at the resort, but there are several hotels, motels, and bed and breakfasts within a 10-minute drive.Winter RecreationRacing available on-site. Cross country trails are nearby at River State Park. Also nearby are movie theaters, antique shops, coffee shops, and an outlet mall.
