Experienced skiers give 2 thumbs up!
Wife and are middle aged and we have snowboarded all over US, Canada and even Alaska. Canyon's rocks with the best of them. We compare to Whistler/Blackcomb, Lake Louise, Keystone, Big Sky, Mammoth, etc etc. Its the largest resort in Utah, but no one has heard of it. Its 3 miles from Park City downtown where you can shop or eat, and there is ample places to get supplies as you're right off the main road. 30 min airport to resort!! Compared to Colorado that's huge! Utah used to be "dry" due to religious impact, but things have loosened up dramatically and now you can imbibe as much as you would like and no issues getting beer or alcohol, there is even a good microbrewery "Settlers"? in both downtown SLC and PC.
The slopes are great, although there could be more of a terrain park for those who do that, and it is spread out - but the place is huge and you have to plan where you're going. I like tree runs and there are TONS here, w/o going OOBounds. Lots of steep runs and 9990 lift is excellent. Blues are good for my girls and not too much grooming so you get to experience some moguls. Not for wussies. I have been there twice for a week and we ended up buying a timeshare (resale) we liked it so much. Not lots of beginning terrain and its challenging, but they have ski schools for kids we used and liked although a 1/2 day option would be very welcome.
You are also minutes from other resorts such as Park City and (a bit father) to Snowbird, Alta, etc if you want to get around. But really you can find all kinds of trails here.
Lodging Deals can be had on the condos down near the parking lot gondola run on the older units. Costco sold discounted lift tickets when we were there.
Nightlife on mountain is slow but park city is right there if you crave it. You can shuss so much after dinner you want a hot-tub and then sleep!
ENJOY!
