Plenty of other, better resorts close-by.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/30/11
As for as the mountain and terrain, it's ok. But there's a lot of better options nearby. What I really dislike about this place is their lack of concern for the safety of their customers, as well as their poor treatment of employees. Do yourself a favor and use google to search for sunshine's recent employee treatment. Please show some respect for the working man and give your lift ticket money to a mountain with better ethics and better terrain.

Safety Concerns
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/28/11
News of the recent firings of many experienced operations managers (Director of lift operations, Dir of mountain operations, Dir of ski patrol) along with the termination of some of the most senior and experienced ski patrollers has caused me to cancel my scheduled family vacation to Sunshine Village. I will instead be skiing at Lake Louise, where management has taken steps to retain its highly skilled workers who provide the public and enjoyable and SAFE skiing experience. I can not trust my family's safety to a CEO who terminates skilled and experienced employees for voicing unpopular positions that need to be heard by the CEO. Those responsible for a safe skiing experience should not be "Yes" men or women. I am just thankful the wonderful town of Banff has Norquay and nearby Lake Louse to offer it's guests.

Don't ski here until management's changed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/28/11
I skied here a couple of days in mid December. Not much snow but, hey sometimes it's a bit thin on December 20,21. However what I can't overlook is the treatment of senior staff by management. Recently the mountain fired a bunch of its senior outdoor operations staff with less than just cause. The whole incident seemed to stem from the owner's son being verbally reprimanded for skiing closed terrain (closed for good reason). Anyway, take your ski dollars elsewhere, Sunshine doesn't deserve them.

Mis-representation
By Coach C, 1/28/11
The under-quoted the accommodation and didn't the honor the supposed $50 meal voucher. Misplaced ski-bag tags and informed us they had been taken to the bottom (when they hadn't). Out and out lied about the conditions and closures

Liked nothing Disliked the poor snow, long lines, lies told by management, and subsequently their treatment of their employees

will not support SSV
What a shame too, looks like they have great terrain! While treatment of their employees by management might not matter to SSV....iit DOES matter to me and, obviously, many of your customers and potential customers.

find somewhere else
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/27/11
Head to one of the other great resorts in the area, unless you want to pay an arm and a leg for just a small portion of the available terrain the mountain has to offer due to the owner firing some of the best patrollers and mountain management people in the industry. Shame.

wont be going back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/27/11
The ski hill boasts itself as a world class resort but is far from it. During my visit and stay the ski area boasted about its steep terrain of which none of it was open. Not only that they continued to promote it on there website and snow reports which lead me to believe that it was open. Only after my visit did I learn that the ski hill would not be opening its so called steep terrain this season as it had fired its avalanche forecaster and snow safety team over personal reasons. Furthermore, due to the lack of terrain open I experienced the so called "trappers lodge" and indulged in way over priced beer and chicken wings that resembled bones and feathers. Absolutely embarrassing! I will not be recommending this ski area to others. Perhaps change your status from world class because you are from it!
