Description
Steamboat is where Olympic medalist Billy Kidd hangs his cowboy hat and, when he's in town, you (and many of your new-found friends) can ski with him every day. This is the Wild West and the atmosphere in the village and on the slopes reflects it. Yes, you can wear your cowboy hat when you ski. Be sure there's a strap under it. The town is as much fun as the mountain, too. ActivitiesSnowboarding: Steamboat's long standing tradition of producing top-notch winter sports athletes continues into the next generation. The Steamboat Parks & Pipes crew has created 4 progressive terrain parks for all ages and ability levels. Begin your adventure on the Lil' Rodeo Terrain Park at base of the ski area. Here our smallest jumps and jib features can be found so you can work your way up the big stuff "easy style." If you prefer speed to metal and air, head over to the Sunbeam Terrain Park by the Rendezvous Saddle and take a run through the skier-cross style natural snow park. After mastering the basics, hit the Rabbit Ears Terrain Park featuring small to medium sized jumps, beginner jibs and rails, and the ever popular Mini Mav; a slightly scaled down 250 foot long, 10 foot high minipipe version of the Mavericks Superpipe. Finally, show your skills in the Mavericks Superpipe and Terrain Park where you'll find the state-of-the-art, Zaugg cut, 18 foot high monster of a pipe that is made for going huge. If you'd rather catch air on a jump the Steamboat Parks & Pipes crew is constantly dialing in every feature for the perfect shape and feel. Mavericks also has more advanced jib features and a massive quarter pipe. No matter your ability level or riding style, Steamboat's terrain parks have something for you.Cross Country Profile: Cross country terrain in three major facilities, Steamboat Touring Center has 30 kilometers of trails, guided tours on Rabbit Ears Pass.
