Western skier trys the bump
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/29/11
I first saw Mt. Brighton in 1999. No snow but with all it's lifts it looked like the circus came to town, I knew I had to ski it. Now mind you, I live in Lake Tahoe and get to ride Big mountains so you wouldn't think I would have anything to do with this bump of a hill but here I went. The snow quality was very good and after a couple of inches overnight the groomers left some of it alone for a "powder" experience. It's very family friendly and people are quick to say hello. Most of these runs are of course very short but you can link turns. Hey it's not Squaw Valley. The runs are novice friendly and the ski school is very good. I did find one steep pitch that is off the backside that provided a challenge. All in all a good value, friendly atmosphere, and just a fun experience. Ski hills like Mt. Brighton are the soul of skiing and hey, how many ski areas are featured in a Hollywood movie??
