Good for NJ
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/13/10
Mountain Creek South has the terrain park which is where a majority of the snowboarders go. There is not much much terrain variety. One double black with bumps, everything else is at North and Granite peaks are groomers. Mountain Creek gets very crowded on weekends so be prepared. Only season pass holders ski from 8-9am, which is nice. A good beginner area with a magic carpet (conveyor belt). A very good place to learn how to ski. Overall it is okay. Close to NY and north Jersey and better than other places I have been such as Big Boulder and Jack Frost. Plenty of lodging around if you want to stay. There is a Days Inn close by plus the mountain offers lodging.

My family is not going back !!!!!!

SAD TIMES FOR THE OLDTIMERS!!!! Great Gorge was the pinnacle of New Jersey SKIING. Now in recent years, the operators of Mountain Creek have designated that area for snowboarders. I remember Great Gorge being a place that a person skied without a fear of someone smashing into you, as is the case of present day snowboarders. There is no presence of the SKI PATROLERS to govern their speed. they seem to make a game to see who can come closest to the skiers. My grandchildren, being novices, do not want to return to mountain creek on any of the peaks because of these speeders on boards. AGAIN,I ASK,WHERE ARE THE SKI PATROLERS ??????
