Just as it's good for growing apples, sunshine is good for the snow at Mission Ridge, near Wenatchee in Washington State. The resort gets so much winter sun that the snow is drier and lighter than most areas in the Northwest. Its location east of the Cascades helps too.ActivitiesSnowboarding: Terrain park, halfpipe, and lessons available on-site for snowboarding. LodgingNo lodging available at the area. Lodges in Wenatchee, 20 minutes from ski slopes. Self-contained camper parking at area.Winter RecreationCross country skiing nearby, helicopter tours, ice skating, movies, sleigh rides, snowmobiling, swimming, and museum.
Small resort where all runs funnel down to 1 lodge. 2 beginner runs, dozens of intermediate, and plenty of expert too. The nice part for families is that all runs funnel down to a single lodge, so even if you lose each other, you will run into each other soon. Snow is dry, if a little scarce. If you have fresh powder here, I don't know how this place could be beat within 3 hours of Seattle.
