Overpriced and lot's of traversing
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/6/10
Big mountain but terrain is pretty much the same - lot's of flat spots and trails that require pushing/walking too. Food and drink are high price and poor quality at the lodge on the Nevada side (their signiture chilli is poured out of a big plastic bag). I recommend Kirkwood, Mount Rose, Alpine, or for a more local experience - Homewood. Cheaper, less crowded, and better service

Awesome variety
By Mark, 2/10/10
Great snow (in early Feb) and really good variety of runs. My first day was really good despite poor visibility. The prices in the mid-mountain lodge were pretty atrocious, $9 beers on tap and not great service. The mountain is great, though, can't wait to get out again today!

Excellent
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/15/10
I've been skiing Heavenly for at least 15 years and look forward to my trips every year. The runs are wide and long, there's plenty of off trail areas and conditions for every type of skier. It's only in the last year or so I've dared to try the canyons, It ain't pretty but I made it to the bottom in one piece. I prefer the Nevada side, it tends to be a little less crowded and has some of the longest runs. When the weather is clear the view from the top of the lifts is good enough to give you religion. I've skied every resort up there multiple times and Heavenly is my favorite. Most of the slopes are North facing so the snow tends to stay in better condition than Squaw or Alpine Meadows. Sierra at Tahoe is good but isn't that big so doesn't have a lot of variety. Heavenly is a little pricey, but the extra $10 or $15 for a lift ticket is inconsequential compared to overall cost of a 3 or 4 day ski trip. In my opinion Heavenly should be first choice, with Squaw and Northstar (the backside) as 2nd choice and most of the others as pretty good for a day.

The lift tickets and food are way too expensive!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/17/09
The resort statistics for Heavenly Valley reports that it has 1,186,128 skiable acreas. This is equiavlent to 1,853 square miles. Could someone please update this information.

Blows
By Sierra Snow Hound, 11/22/08
This place blows, again they say they are opening then quit making snow to save money. West coasts largest, but un-active snow making system. These people charge way too much for what you get! My advise; for a true Sierra skiing experience go to Alpine, Squaw & Kirkwood...
